Thumbs up On my way to a better life...

    Hi to All,

Today I was diagnosed with Morbid Obesity and Fatty Liver, and recommended to have the Gastric Sleeve Surgery. My first reaction was to be scared, but also relief that there is light at the end of the tunnel for my current condition.

My next steps are to have visits with several specialists and have tests to get closer to a better future not only for me, but for my family as well.

I would like to know the different steps before and after the procedure, what to expect, and to hear recommendations from you.

In advance, thank you for all the support.

    Gilbert

Welcome to our BIG family. The path does vary some depending on your doctor and your insurance but I am glad you are taking the first steps on that path. On my first visit to the surgeon they gave me a list of all the tests and exams I would be doing, plus told me about my visits to the nutritionist, psychologist, and physical therapist. It has been a long path but I am glad to say I am almost to surgery day. 11/12/12. I still need to see the surgeon Friday to discuss any last minute questions and sign all the consent forms. Also I have a class that day with anesthesia. I am getting excited.

Don't be scared do your research and you will find that there are very few people that have and major complications and this is the simplest and quickest of all the weight loss surgeries. Have faith! Best of Luck in your journey.

Highest weight 440 lbs. lowest weight 9.5 lbs at birth
    Date of surgery weight 340
    12 week checkup 301 BMI <50 yeah!
Weight on birthday 3/24/48 Goal 285 would be nice.
