Mine is scheduled for 5-26-11....with Dr. Ramos-Kelly. Hey I did talk with Sheryl on here from Nevada, and she had great things to say about her experience. If you want to call her let me know...I"ll connect yall up. I felt so much better after talking with her..not so nervous.

BTW, my flight is coming in so late next Thrusday (11:15 p.m) that they have decided to pick me up from the airport and take me straight to the hospital. What service!!!

HI I'm new here and debating on which doctor to choose. I am a little scared about hearing that Dr. Almanza has a strip mall type clinic. This scares me if something goes wrong. Could you tell me a little about Dr. Kelly's facility? Is it an actual hospital? Also, what is the cost and does it include airfare? Did it take long to get a date? I'm sorry for all of the question. I would actually be doing a lapband revision, which I know would be a little more. I am just trying to get ballbark figure. Thanks for your help.

Dr. Kelly is in a hospital not a strip mall. The facilities are clean, the cafeteria only serves vegitarian type meals. The care I recieved was excellent. Cost ran me $5300 for Sleeve; $500 airfare for 2 from Dallas, TX; $150 Hotel and upgrade fee; $50 tips for drivers and about $100 meals for my friend.

I also had surgery with Dr. Kelly. The hospital (Florence Hospital) has a cancer unit called Oasis of Hope within the hospital, but I stayed on the first floor. Like Tammy said the cost of the procedure is $5300, my airfare was $300 from New Orleans, LA and I paid $44 for hotel upgrade at Hotel Lucerna. Trish's email is smoothgospel@hotmail.es

You guys are the best! I think I am leaning towards Dr. Kelly. It sounds like you have had good results. Right now I have the lap-band. I got this in 2003...went to Mexico. The surgery itself was fine.....I don't blame the doctor. I just don't think it is for everyone. I have had nothing but problems with it. One time I went to have the liquid taken out and the clinician put more in by accident. I did not notice that it was tighter until some time later (assume that the liquid was taken out).....sometimes your body and stomach need to time adapt to the adjustment before you actually feel it. Anyway, it got so tight that I could barely get liquid down. A small morsel would not even go down. I went back to the clinician in my area and they told me it probably slipped. I got so sick....ended up in the hospital with pneumonia, dehydrated and everything. It was awful. I then went back to the clinician and BEGGED and pleaded, "please, please try and see if you can get some liquid out." They stated there couldn't be any in there because their records showed the liquid was taken out. Well, their records WERE WRONG. Sure enough there was too much liquid in the band. That was the problem all along. Because someone was not paying attention to what they were doing, I got so, so sick. I now weigh even more than I started with the band....sigh. I have tried and tried to work with the band, but all I end up is throwing up.....my poor esophagus. I am really scared to have another surgery just to end up with bad results again. I can't fathom having failure again. So far I have heard good results from people like me that have had awful problems with the band, but have had great success with the sleeve. This is giving me so much hope! Thanks again for the help. Please continue to post your results.....they are inspiring. Thanks for the info about Trish too. I will contact her!

For everyone that has had surgery with Dr. Ramos-Kelly, how long is his pre-op diet (before surgery)? Also, what does his pre-op diet consist of?

According to your BMI ...mine was 14 days Protien Liquids with a small salad in the evening and then 3 days out Clear Liquids till instructed otherwise.

Dang Tammy, you kicking my butt!!! You had your surgery 13 days after me and you lost 7 lbs. more than me thus far! Wait till I'm finished school!!! I'm gonna get ya!!! LOL

Thanks Tammy......I am thinking about trying to get an earlier surgery date! So I just wanted to ensure that I had enough days in there to fit a pre-op diet in. I am not looking forward to the pre-op diet. I think it will be hard! I'll do it though.....I want this surgery bad! Thanks again.
