Default When does the pain stop?

I know it's different for everyone but I'm wondering when your pain started to subside after surgery?

I was doing great until today (day 5) and I have pain in my shoulders. I've left a voicemail for the surgeon late this afternoon but haven't heard back yet.
So I did research on the Internet and supposedly it's very common to have sore shoulders from the CO2 they pump into you. I've tried massaging myself and heat packs but no luck.

    So I guess I have 2 questions:

    When were you pain free?
If you also got this shoulder pain, how did you treat it and long does it last?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

I pretty much lived on a heating pad the first week, took lots of Gas-x strips, and walked every hour. Walking is the best way to get the gas moving out of your system. You will read it over and over on here... walk walk walk! It will get better

I'm day 8 post-op. There is still some residual pain in my left shoulder, but it is not terrible. I try to massage it and was given the suggestion by the nurse to trying Icy-hot rub and working it in and/or using a heating pad to help. Best of luck on a speedy recovery.

The nurse initially would pat my back (pretty hard I might add) and that would help some. Also I would walk and my husband would pat my back and shoulder. Must be something about that left shoulder because thats the one that gave me problems too. Its better now though. Hopefully yours won't be too bad for long. I also agree with the heating pad being helpful and the gas-x strips.

I loved the gas x strips! Walking still helps a ton. I'm 20 days out and still have abdominal pain in the belly button area and right abdomen. It does get better every day. I can now cough and sneeze with no added pain.

By like day six I was pain free...but FYI the shoulder pain can come back after it is gone. Mine came back like 3 or 4 days ago and killed me for 2 days. I am 18 days post op. The first day and a half I took the rest of the med the doc had sent me home with. When those were all gone, I took tylenol pm, so I could sleep through the pain as much as possible, and then picked up the rub from walmart called blu-emu between the 2 it passed in about two days. Good luck! Oh and I also took gas-x like there was no tomorrow

I'm about two weeks out from surgery and everyone seems to be talking about gas-x! How soon did you start taking it after surgery, and what kind-the dissovable strips? Or chewables?

I started taking the strips as soon as I woke up from the surgery, and continued to take them as needed until about 2 weeks after. Now I can take either the strips or the pills
