Had mine the 19th and first few days were tough and not because of the surgery itself....that's been a breeze since day 1 but the GAS oh geeeeeeez!! But that too gets better. Good luck to all of you!!
Hi.....
I had my sleeve done on November 6 by Dr. Cottom in Salt Lake City, UT. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time.....so when I woke up in recovery I thought I was having a heart attack. The morphine drip didn't help at all, so the rest of that day was pretty horrible. When they took my IV out and took me off the Morphine (at 5:00 in the am -- who hires these nurses that love to wake you up every hour all night long!! lol), and gave me some liquid Lortab the pain vanished. I was uncomfortable for the first few nights after the surgery but the days were a breeze. I am down 35 pounds since I started the preop diet on October 23 and 18 pounds in the three weeks since the surgery. I can't stress enough that you have to drink!!! I am lucky that I really like water so there were no big changes in my drinking habits....I just know that I need to drink more than I ever have before. I am eating pretty regular foods now. I have never really had any problems sticking to the liquid and soft food diets that they have you on. I never really feel like I am hungry, but I know that if I don't eat three times a day at about the same times, then I get that uncomfortable feeling again.
Good luck on your adventure.....sounds like we are both off to a great start!!

Hello!!
Had my surgery with Dr. Almanza in TJ on 11-19. Doing great! Down 17.6 lbs since prep. This morning got into a pair of jeans I had not been able to get into. BUT best of all, I felt this strange sense of EXTRA energy yesterday, it was and is great! WHOOP!!!
Looking forward to getting rid of "BWLS" clothes, going through all the sizes in my closet then CLEAN OUT Everything and get new clothes that fit.
BUT AGAIN the best part for me is that I feel soo much better and am told that this will just get better!
Sorry for the late reply. I didn't see it. I am doing excellent. Had almost no pain was up and walking since two hours after surgery. I'm back to work after three weeks. Doctor put me on soft foods basically anything I can smash with a fork and chew really well. I'm getting all my protein in but not all my calories. I'm trying though. I even had Thanksgiving dinner (mostly chopped in a food processor but still awesome). How are you doing?
glad to hear you are doing so well! am having trouble w/protein. and am sooo tired all the time. I take my vitamins faithfully and overall, feel ok EXCEPT for the fatigue. Does anyone know if it's normal to be so tired for so long post surgery? I do absolutely nothing to get tired! Any suggestions?
I am glad to hear everyone is doing so well!!
I am good, I just did my weekly weigh in so I am down 20lbs from surgery
Tomorrow I get to start soft foods yay I am tired of pureed. I am still trying to drink 3 protien shakes a day though because there is no way I can meet my protien intake with how little I eat and I suck at getting all my liquids in so I am just drinking powerade zero and some pedialyte popcicles to make sure I stay hydrated. I have been taking my vitamins so I am not too tired and still have energy.
I was sleeved on 11/8/12 and just curious how much everyone is able to eat so far. I think I am more scared then anything to over do my sleeve since I have already gotten sick a few times (blah!). If I have a scrambled egg I can eat maybe a quarter of it, and with oatmeal, soups, even refried beans I can do maybe 3 or 4 tsp and I am done. What has been hard for me also is slowing down while eating I mean it is hard to pace when your using a teaspoon with mush when you haven't eating real food in over a month lol
Good luck to all having surgery today and tomorrow! and I just hope everyone is doing well and continues to do well!

I've read all over this site that a lot of people experience fatigue the first couple of weeks. You said your having trouble with proteins. Maybe that your not getting enough and that will add to your fatigue. If you can't tolerate protein shakes. There's a website Bariatric Choice that has a lot of options for protein. One of my favorite is Proti hot chocolate. Has 17 grams in it. A couple of cups and your on your way. They also have a drink by Syntaks call Fuzzy Naval Necter. I drink that mixed with Peach Just 15 by Minute Maid. Has 23 grams of protein in it and I can sip it all day. Try to get up and walk as much as you can. You'll get your strength back in no time. Good luck.
I'm down 21 lbs since surgery. I can eat about 4 Tablespoons of food at a time. I don't have any desire to eat at all. But I do notice when my stomach is empty it hurts. I seem to need to eat about every two-three hours though. I had one incident when I ate to fast. Needless to say the parking lot of Petsmart was left a gift in their bushes.. lol. But other than that. I'm doing ok. Water is hard for me though.
