    Default Thanksgiving Dinner

It was a long day cooking but now it's over and it was a success, for me and the family. I made:

    - Turkey
    - stuffing
    - Gravy
    - mashed potato
    - roasted yams
    - cranberry sauce
    - steamed broccoli & cauliflower
    - acorn & butternut squash soup
    - pumpkin pie brownie bites with light whipped cream

I modified the soup. I added greek yogurt instead of cream cheese.

We started with the soup and I had about 1 tablespoon but I used a teaspoon to eat it so I was able to have a few small spoonfuls. For the main dinner, I had a couple of small pieces of turkey, I smeared a titch of cranberry sauce on the turkey, and about a teaspoon of gravy. I had a stewed carrot (I make a stock with the turkey neck and I eat the carrots) piece, a piece of broccoli, and some yams. For dessert, I had about a tablespoon of the light whipped cream only (4 tbsp = 30 cal).

I don't feel deprived at all. It's amazing.

    Good job Truffles!
I too ate a tiny Thanksgiving dinner and am Thankful it was well received by my stomach.
Instead of whip cream, I had less than a tspn of pumpkin pie. Damn tasty but not to the point where I felt compelled to eat anymore.

Any thought of perhaps getting together occasionally for a North AB support group?

Sure! I think there are a couple more of us. They need to post and say how their T-Day dinners went.

I would be lying if I didn't say I've been wondering how Thanksgiving is going to go in my house -- I'm a taster while I cook -- I may be stuffed quicker than the turkey!!!!

I had a bite of turkey and a couple bites of potatoe salad mmmmmm my favorite, and is course a bite of cheese cake (low fat).

I am very interested in a northern AB support group.

Happy Thanksgiving all my fellow Canadians! I am still preop and had a GREAT feast! I figure I am going to enjoy Thanksgiving because I am having surgery right before Christmas so no feast for me then.

I blended together some turkey, yam, and a bit of cranberry sauce and was able to eat maybe 1/2 cup. For dessert I had 2 teaspoons of gelato pumkin spice flavor. I was completely satisfied too. And my new tummy did not hurt having the blended food as so far I've just been doing yogurt and cottage cheese, so glad to know I am healing.

Fantastic news! Well done on feeding your family, and having such a small and satisfying meal for yourself. I'm planning on doing something very similar at Christmas.

I also made a big dinner:
    Turkey
    Honey glazed carrots
    Cornbread stuffing
    Sweet potato and apple casserole
    Homemade cranberry sauce
    Pumpkin pie
Whipped cream (cause you can't have the pie without the cream in my world!!)
I had a few bites of each and was thrilled. I got to taste it all and enjoy the meal with my partner.

As to the Northern Alberta support group ... yes please. I had a support group at home (Whitehorse) that I put together and I miss them so much it's insane! The additional support and ideas you get from a group is invaluable!
