    Default protein supplements

I have a family of 6 and money is tight, as is the case for alot of people these days. Does anyone know where to get inexpensive protein supplements? I would prefer the bars, protein shots or the fruit drinks. Thanks in advance!

Sam's Club and Costco for the protein bars -- we also have a store called Grocery Outlet (used to be call the Canned Food Store) -- I find goodies in there quite often

    Hello,
You may want to check out vitacost.com I know they $10 off if you sign up for their newsletter or something like that and they have a variety of protein items up there. I wish I knew of other places but I know these things are expensive.

    Best of luck to you!

Be cautious of the bars, you may not be able to eat the whole thing and most of them are high in fat and overall not real good sources of the best protein. You want to make sure to get in whey isolate. Tons of protein supplements are just trash protein. Whey isolate in pure protein and thus your body absorbs it much better and you actually get most of the grams it says. For protein bars/shots/fruit drinks they are protein blends and not pure protein. So when it states 20 grams of protein your body might actually only get 20-35% of that.

Wal-Mart the whey protein powder mixes have whey isolate in good quantity. I purchase most of my whey isolate powder online through Amazon. Prices are pretty good and if you are a prime member shipping for 2 day is free.

I know the protein shakes sound expensive when you buy them, but when you really break it down per meal, it's pretty reasonable. Plus, as you start to lose weight, if you can get off of any meds you may be taking, that's another savings.

At Walmart, this is my shake of choice: Six Star Pro Nutrition Whey Protein Isolate Chocolate - Walmart.com

I would try 1 out first, you can buy it at the store, and if you like it, order on-line in the bundle pack ( Six Star Pro Nutrition Powder 1.5lb, Choose One Tub From Many Flavors: Diet & Nutrition : Walmart.com ) and save about $3/tub. If you order $45 worth, shipping is free. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE BLACK AND SILVER TUB!! It is the Whey Isolate Elite Series, it has the highest protein and lowest carbs. I like the chocolate with skim milk (I use a blender shake bottle) and I use the vanilla for my smoothies.

I also like the Premier Protein from Sam's : http://www.samsclub.com/sams/premier...Id=prod3***051

I drink one every morning for breakfast. I drink it over about 6-8 ice cubes, so the 11oz drink plus the 6oz of ice is a great way to start off my liquids for the day too!
