    Default Unable to feel full?

Hi, I'm a week post-sleeve and doing great, but unable to feel full. I'm not looking to feel stuffed or anything, I'm just worried I could eat a lot more than is recommended. I sometimes find I simply get bored and lose interest in my meal, so I chuck the rest, but I'm sure if I kept at it, I could eat over 1/2 a cup.

    Your experiences? :-)

Your new belly is still healing and unless you have your drs blessing, you probably dont want to be eating real food just yet. The drs here in the states usually have their patients on liquids and pureed foods for a few weeks after surgery so the new stomach can heal. You probably dont have any sensation in the new belly so you wont be full. That makes it a bit dangerous because it is very easy to stretch out a healing stomach. Most if the time, right out of surgery you can get in about a couple of tablespoons of liquid before you need to stop. The further out from surgery you get, the more you are able to take in. I would definitly talk to your dr about eating so soon. Best of luck:-)

loosing interest in your meal is normal. You "feel" hungry because you have in the past. Eating is now just a necessity, and not a entertainment piece. Do something different. Learn to cope with the loss of the entertainment of eating. Its no different if you play tennis, and tire of tennis. You find something else to do. Eating is no longer the same. Good luck, the tradeoff will be more satisfying as the pounds start falling. Women start looking sexier, and guys, well, we spend more time getting fit cause we can now chase those slim fit, sexier women

Once you are able to eat solid protein (chicken, fish, meat) you will feel full. Don't worry about it right now. Stay hydrated. Aim high for protein intake (shakes, yogurt, milk).

Skibabe - Your stomach is still healing at this point and you are probably still on liquids. The liquids wash down easily. You wont feel true restriction until you get to the "real" food stage. Trust me..those first very small bites of real protein will give you "that feeling"!

Don't worry about the feeling of restriction just yet...it will come soon enough. Focus on your protein and water in the amounts recommended by your surgeon and try to get in a little exercise like walking.....and you should be golden!

Hi guys, thanks for your posts. I am allowed soft foods over the next two weeks so I'm on track. I had another look at the file the clinic gave me and found a suggested menu plan which I'm following. More importantly, it had amounts on it. I'm sticking to that so that I don't overheat and adding protein powder when I can. Thanks!

I find it depends on what your eating..Like you may be able to eat more yogurt then chicken...I wouldn't worry to much about it but if your worried just make sure to measure!
