I am just starting my journey and there seems to be so much choice, so many differing prices and its all rather daunting. If you do not wish to broadcast your thoughts please feel free to private message me.
Thanks folks.

I don't have any problems with sharing. I had my surgery done at Salt Lake Regional Hospital. My Dr. Is Christina Richards from Bariatric Medicine Institute. When I had my sleeve done she also repaired a hiatal hernia she found during the procedure. Total cost was about $25,000.00. I had already hit my out of pocket maximum prior to my surgery my out of pocket cost was $325.00. Have no regrets what so ever....other than not doing it sooner!
Nope... trust me, everyone is friendly and willing to share to help! I have not had my sleeve done yet... my insurance is paying for the entire operation. Best of luck with your surgery.
I'm having surgery here in Dallas TX next week - $11,000 all-inclusive package (all doc visits, nutrition counseling, surgery, anesthesiologist, up to 2 nights hospital if needed). Of that, $6,200 goes to hospital (Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas TX), $800 to Anesthesiologist, and $4,000 to surgeon (Dr. James Davidson). When looking for a surgeon, I first ruled out anyone with a billboard or bus ads, then checked credentials, went to the group info session, and read online reviews in forums like this, then had the individual consult. Dr. Davidson's staff are very friendly and knowledgable - many have had WLS, which is very helpful. Granted I haven't had surgery yet, but thus far I've been quite impressed with Dr. Davidson - especially since he spent 45 minutes with me in the initial consult. Hope his surgical skills are equally imressive next week!
Hi Ian - I thought you were from the UK as soon as I saw the very reserved title of your post! Most of the people here are from the US, but there's a few of us in the UK (although I'm an Aussie expat). I am having my surgery this weekend coming with Spire Hospital in Leicester, the surgeon's name is Chris Sutton. The surgery is costing me just shy of £10K.
Hi Ian. Had my sleeve yesterday at Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon with the wonderful Marcus Reddy. Package cost just under 10k £.
Reason: Incomplete
Way to go I have two hurnias to be fixed is that hard on your recovery? I was so pleased I was only going to have to pay3,800 I wish it was 325.00 but I will still take that on any day heck I will save that much in food.
Nah, not cheaper in the US, just cheaper for those of them who choose to fly to Mexico as health tourists. In the UK, some people are choosing to fly to the Czech republic to have it done a few grand cheaper. I personally preferred to have surgery somewhere close enough to home to have regular follow up with my surgeon and the dietitian. Cheers, n.
Hi Ian, I'm in the UK having my surgery through Gravitas & paying just short of £12k (this is including a discount) my surgery is slightly more expensive as I have had previous gastro surgery which they will "work around". I think if you work on an average of £10k you are going to be close to the cost.
Good luck x
