I did not have a good experience with Dr. Garcia at the Mi Doctor Hospital in Mexico and would not recommend him to others. Everyone has different experiences.

Check out Dr. Pompa as well. She's with an international center of excellence called LIMARP.

Ditto...Mexico was a good experience. Mexico has developed into a cosmetic and bariatic surgery mecca. It is economical and easy to access from the U.S.

I am one week out had my sleeve done on 10/09/12 in Tijuana by Mario Almanza,I went to Mexico because I needed to save money and I had a great experience no worries. However I prepared myself for what was to come I knew that the clinic was located in a shopping strip, the surgery table and beds where old but the medical equipment/computers were top notch. the Hotel they move you to was awesome. You will experience horrible gas pain in your chest the night after the surgery and the next day but on the third day I felt so much better I went shopping. When night falls go back to your hotel, no need to look for trouble. I felt very safe and would do it again anytime.

I had a very good experience in Mexico. Yes, parts of Mexico are poverty-stricken. However, the bariatric surgery facilities are excellent...they are clean and have an excellent level of patient care. With any major surgery there are risk and I read many posts from people that have had surgery in the U.S. and developed complications.

I plan to head south of the border for cosmetic surgery after I finish losing weight. Dr. Almanza was my surgeon and I have no regrets. Dr. Alvarez is also an excellent surgeon. Just do your research and decide what situation is right for you. Lining up aftercare with your U.S. doctor is also good idea.

Please don't forget to research Dr. Guillermo Alvarez and Dr. Alberto Aceves. Both of them are extremely reputable. Also want to throw out Dr. Armando Joya. Just for your info. There are a lot of good doctors in Mexico.

I am not sure about this, I mean it is hard unless you hear it from the source it self. I recently had to contact my coordinator because of someone scaring me half to death with a PM but it was cleared up and I am still 100% happy with my choice in doctor. As with anything in this world you have competitors out there, so I know that on another message boards there have been "fake" people making bogus remarks about other doctors. The best you can do is research yourself and when in doubt contact a coordinator. Mine has been upfront with me about what ever I ask.

I tried to search for something regarding him loosing a patient and I have not found anything between the 3 message boards I have been on. There were a few people that weren't 100% happy and a few that said they had complications but it seems you will find this with quiet a few doctors, I mean hey it is a risk with any type of surgery.

Best of luck with your search!

Today is one year since we lost my brother to Dr. Rafael Velasco Marin at Clinica Victoria in Cancun. My post is the one you will see on complaints board. As I have said before, please think long and hard before you go abroad for surgery. Please go read my post on complaints board by griefing sistet. He had a complete body lift all at one time after 2 different doctors said they needed to do it in 3different procedures. There are a lot of things that don't make sense. I just want to let everyone know the risk u are taking by going abroad to have surgery. If something happens, your family can not just come to be by your side. As with us, you never get the whole story. You never know what really happened. We don't really even know if the ashes we got are his.
