Hi Mel,
I feel fine since surgery. I won't lie and say it was easy but each day is better. The first day you will be in pain from the surgery and the gas. I would recommend you bring the gas-x strips ( I found the minty one better than the sweet cherry) and use them. the best thing is to get up and walk around. This helps with the gas as well. Bring your most comfortable jammys for your 2nd - 3rd day post op as you are given a hospital gown to wear.
The staff at the clinic are fantastic. The best nursing care I have seen in a bit. Very attentive and professional. If your pain isn't managed with what they give you don't hesitate to ask for something stronger.
I travelled there alone and once I met with my fellow sleevers at the airport we were all supportive of each other.
Keep in touch if you want. Nervousness is natural. You have started your journey back to the real you!
Rena
Well, congrats on the next step in your life! I was with Binks in the Aug 7th group at Dr Almanza's. I had ZERO pain, needed nothing at all and that has proven true from day one. The gas is rough tho. Definitely take gas X strips. I found the chewable's to be much more effective once I got home. They may be a bit rough on the stomach the first day or 2 tho.
Just remember that it all will pass, and life will move on pretty quickly.
They took care of us very well. The nursing staff was phenomenal, and really take care of you. They do not give you narcotics, so if you have any at home you might want to bring them. I did not need them but some did.
If you have sleep issues you might want to opt for the hotel. The club house is much like over crowded dorm rooms. I didn't sleep at all until I went to the hotel and paid for the private room. The rooms have bunk beds, which is great if you do not have sleep issues lol.
The shopping the 3rd day was great, and everyone really takes care of you. You will have fun. And it does get better with each day.
