Anyone else feel alone?

Hey everyone,

Any of you ever feel alone post-op? My dh continues to bring absolute junk food into our house and it is driving me nuts. Last night we were invited to a friends house and they told him that it would be a dinner date sort of deal. Well, 1-month post-op I can't eat the crap that they were serving.....which of course makes me feel awkward. Ugh.....I am so frustrated!

I would take my water & Protein shakes with me. It's hard but .I could not just cut everyone off because of my surgery. At the time they ate .I went out side to the pool area. Not easy . You can do it girl. Good Luck

Hey Karla M! Don't you worry about them and their dinner date. You just stay focused on the end goal. I notice you have a countdown to your wedding date. Keep your eyes on that prize. You are going to look so amazing on your wedding day. I'm not sure what dh means, but maybe you can explain to your dh that you really need support right now, which means not accepting any dates with others that involve food, until you are at the stage to eat solids again. In all the research I've done and my personal experiences, I've found that they tend to forget because we still look like us. Today I went to the grocery store with my 10yrs old son, and like we've done many times before, we stopped by the deli counter to get some low sodium turkey, and they always give you a sample slice to see if you approve of the thickness. My son is so used to splitting it with me that he instinctively turned to me with my half, and I just had to quietly remind him that I can't eat that yet, and he said oh yeah Mom, I forgot. Hang in there, althugh we are names in a forum, you are not alone, we're here.

I took my kids on a little vacation and a couple of nights we went to restaurants,and I cant eat anything,my wife and kids have full plates of food and Im tryn to get through a bowl of soup......and of course the waitress had to say something...so no your not alone it does feel awkward,but f--it im on a mission

Thanks for sharing. Just think about it... they might be heading for obesity in a few years time... then you will be the one smiling... keep quiet.. take your shake with you and stay positive...

Hi Karla M, twice now I have been away for weekends with friends eating and I have taken some of my own foods with me. If they are true friends they will understand and not be offended by you taking an alternative with you. Eating out with friends is a sociable event, so enjoy the company and try not to get too hung up on what they think. You will be the winner in the end!! Love to you and your journey. xx

If you mean me..no secret I cant really eat much and I work hard,havent exercised like jogging or anything,I drink and smoke,Im actually probably a bad example of how you should act after this surgery.

I actually just eat the leftovers - don't order anything. When I order water, I essentially eat for free! Because I used to be so hungry all the time before surgery, I feel sorry for friends who eat to fight off the hunger like I used to do. Occasionally, I will order a small appetizer when the family is really hungry.
I eat leftovers at home for several days and still have to throw things out.

My thoughts yesterday when I was in a popular chain store that has a Mc Donalds inside was "do they know what they are setting their kids up to become"? I saw numerous young kids eating junk food and realized that as a parent I did the same thing, never knowing what an impact it would have on our future. When I grew up there were very few fast food chains and we ate healthy foods at home. A soda was a treat, not something we drank instead of water. I hope my grandkids decide to eat alittle healthier than their parents do...

Yeah, I have found myself doing that lately. Looking at what other people are eating and thinking to myself how unhealthy it is and how much/often I used to eat it.

and almost anything but in very small
amounts. My husband still bakes but I cannot
