    Smile OMG I've been Sleeved!!!!

    Hi Everyone!

I am 8 days post surgery and I'm starving!!! So due to the autoimmune condition that I have, my MD is erring on the side of caution and I love him for it, and he is keeping me on clear liquids a little longer than usual to make sure my stomach has healed properly.

I am so excited that I get to start protein shakes tomorrow, because maybe I won't feel so hungry. I haven't really been able to stomach much more than diluted apple juice and white grape juice. I've had a few ounces of chicken broth, but my stomach has turned completely against the Isopure protein drinks that I loved before my surgery.

I'll be on Full liquids for 3 weeks instead of 2, so I hope I still like the taste of protein shakes. No matter what I'll make the most of it, until I can go to the next phase.

Anyways, I'm hanging in there and trying to just get back to feeling like me just lighter!!!!!!

How are you all doing out there?

If you find you can't tolerate the protein shakes (like I couldn't) - The atkins shakes are actually pretty good (15g protein) and the slim fast low carb shakes are decent (20g protein)... both available at walmart. Good luck, congrats and welcome to the sleeved side!

I'm hoping that I still like it, because it is the Isopure brand that has 50g of protein in each serving, so I'm counting on it helping me to get in my protein daily.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Do you recommend making the protein shake with milk or with water?

Be careful of the fruit juice, sugar can add to hunger. I am a day behind you. Sugar free popsickles, and crystal light lemonade have been my life line. Blessings Diana

My MD said I could dilute the fruit juices to drink them. I can't stomach the popsicles either, so that is off the table for me. Good luck on your journey!

They sell isopure in clear liquid form as well. In case you cant tolerate the shake. In regards to adding milk or water that depends on your tolerance for milk. I personally dont use milk. But you may need it in the beginning to get your calorie intake up. I hope that helps and gratz on your sleeve.

The strange thing is I loved those Isopure protein drinks pre-surg, but I have not been able to stomach them post-surg. I'm hoping I'll regain the taste for them because I have a whole case of them and they are high in protein.

Congratulations on your sleeve! Can you eat sf gelatin? That is a great filler between protein shakes. Get your fluids in and your "hunger" should subside. Best wishes!

I am so sorry to hear you have PBC. I hope your treatment is helping you manage your symptoms. I was diagnosed with MCTD (mixed connective tissue disease), sometimes referred to as UCTD(unspecified connective tissue disease). It is extremely painful and I'm constantly fatigued.
