The gastric sleeve option certainly sounds better in that article than a lap band procedure. How often do patients gain the weight back after having the sleeving surgery? I would love to see some statistics on that.
Thanks for that Media Hound.
For my part, I have already decided against the Lap Band because I felt that I didn't want the trips back to the doctor. As you know, money is tight and having to go back to the doctor periodically for follow-up.
I have talked to my doctor about it, and he agrees that a gastric sleeve surgery is what I need for my own weight loss objectives.
I've had the lap band surgery and it was great at first. I'm sure I've stretched my stomach out since the surgery though. After about 1 year I stopped losing weight.
My question is, can you stretch your stomach out after having the gastric sleeve? I know when we are born our stomachs are small. We gradually make them bigger by the things we eat and how much we eat. So in reality can you just end right back where you started or not?
I think with all weight loss surgeries you have the chance of gaining the weight back. You have to be ready to stop over-eating when you have any surgery. Our stomachs will stretch if we make them.
Thanks for sharing the differences with us. I think the gastric sleeve would make us lose weight quicker, but the lap band sounds like it could be undone.
