I teach swimming so I'm in the pool 3-4 hrs a day, 4x weekly. On the other days I swim lengths or aqua Zumba. All my exercise is in the water at the moment. That way it's not a chore as I have allergies to regular exercise
I don't know what's wrong with me...I was told to walk, still don't do it every day like I'm suppose to. I wish I had a motivation pill I could take to make me move. I didn't exercise when I was skinny as a young person, or fat for the last thirty years....now that I've lost most of the weight, I'm still not doing it. You would think that this would get me excited to be smaller and be able to move around better, but I swear, I seem to be even lazier than I was before. I feel like I have failed my own self yet once again! I don't want to sit on a pity pot either....how did you make yourselves get started...is there some kind of formula to follow? I'm praying for help...God knows I need it! I'm in therapy but so far I'm just not interested.....feels hopeless.
I got started slow. My PCP and my therapist encourage me to walk (way before I started the surgery). My PCP wants me to walk for my heart health. My therapist wants me to walk for my mental health. Those reasons help motivate me.
We probably all know that we diet to lose weight but we need to exercise to help maintain the weightloss.
Oh, yes, I'm still at it 7 days a week, about 60 to 90 minutes each day. I do 45 to 60 minutes of cardio, plus pilates and strength training. It would be much more difficult to maintain my weight loss without it.
Today I did 35 minutes on the elliptical, 15 on the recumbent bike, and 20 minutes weights/abs.
Yesterday walked 45 mins on the treadmill - 2.5 mph - burned 200 calories and was nearly 2 miles. The first time I've done 45 mins in so long. Today trying to get the gumption up to get my behind on it. When the scale started moving was when I started walking. I also do some stretching, leg lifts, crunches, and UE strengthening. Glad for this thread as I definitely need accountability in this area!!
I feel for you Lee. I had hives from the beginning of Nov thru end of February a couple of years ago. It was miserable and they couldnt find the cause. I am the one who figured it out in Dec.- it was a medication the doc had doubled the dose on in October so i stopped taking it. Then I kept getting them sporadically still which I finally connected to the sulfites in wine. So had to stop drinking wine, which sucked. One day i may try again one day since I wont be able to drink much at one time anyway.
I havent been in the pool since last weekend. I am water exercising in the morning for an hour. I have been so droopy this week. My legs are heavy and my hips hurt...I don't know what is going on but I am hoping watercise will snap me out of it. I have been doing that about 3 days a week and short daily walks with my puppy...I need to walk more or hit the gym but the water feels so much better right now...I tone up pretty nicely in the water
I had been swimming 1 mile/day but last Friday I drove from Georgia up to Connecticut, then on to Maine last Saturday. Haven't done as much as I like to do as far as exercise up here. None the less, something every day.
Walking, open ocean swimming, ocean kayaking, running after my shaggy dog who found a new playmate next door -- that's about it.
I plan to log what I do here everyday to keep me honest. Anyone else planning to do the same?
