Woke up coughing, coughing - Yellow mucous - Aspiration of Vitamin, or Reflux or What???

I had a weird thing this morning... took my multi-vitamin late last night, and then went to bed not too long after (an hour?), and then woke up suddenly this AM at 7:50 coughing, and coughing up something, felt like from my lungs of this awful tasting yellow phlegm! I kept coughing, coughing, and spitting it out, trying to get it out of my lungs!
NASTY tasting!.. worried me.. but I swear I think because I went to bed kind of hungry, or took the vitamin with only some protein shake, that I must have refluxed while lying down.. Did it go into my lungs, too? Did I aspirate some of my chewable vitamin?? I dunno.

But, I don't hurt or have any trouble breathing, and I've been okay the rest of today...sooo.... Just odd! Won't take the vit late anymore!

Anyone have any idea if this was just mucous that was reflux?

Sounds like reflex maybe caused by the vitamins.

No, That sounds to me like reflux. Do you give at least 2 hours before bed after eating? Try using more pillows if it continues. I have to sleep half sitting because mine gets so bad and wakes me several times a night The yellow mucus could also be a little acid tasting which is a tell tale sign. I wouldn't worry too much unless it continues on a daily basis. There are lots of meds to help also. Cheers B

I usually don't eat that close to bedtime, and it was actually just a vitamin with a few swings of protein shake. I can't remember eating anything else, and thinking I was kind of hungry, but figured I needed to just go on to bed!! Will have to pay more attention from now on, because that was nasty. Last night, I brushed my teeth again before bed - and AFTER I had brushed them after that episode! - and got the taste of that again from my toothbrush! Blech! Needless to say, threw that brush away and got a new one out! lol
