Default 9 Weeks Post Op.... Questions

I'm now 9 weeks post op and so far it's gone great. For the last week or so though I've felt much more hungry than I did in the beginning. Before I'd eat and be fine, now I eat, and it seems like not much later my belly actually growls and I feel hungry. I'm getting my protein and eating like I was, so not sure if this is normal. I also have been stuck at my current weight for 1-2 weeks now. Anybody else experience this at the 8-9 week mark?

I can't really help but I know what you mean. I feel the same and I'm 7 weeks out. Losing weight now is getting harder.

I've always been told that thirst can resemble hunger. Are you drinking enough?

I also had this hunger crop up at about 7 weeks s/p.

Turned out to be acid since I now chew antacids during the day and the hunger is pretty much gone.

Hi there, I had my sleeve just a few days before you did. I haven't experienced the hunger you're talking about but I heard the hunger can come and go so I would think that's normal. Also, perhaps your body is signaling you it wants a bit more food to keep it going and burning the fat. You might be in a stall which again I would think is normal, as each of us is unique. Sometimes varying the calories we take in gets the weight moving again. You might have to eat more to drop weight. I know it seems counter-untuitive to us professional dieters, but sometimes that's what it takes. Then you can lower the calories for a day or two. The body needs to be kept guessing to keep the weight moving and yes, it will work in it's own time to drop the weight. No matter what WE do, sometimes it needs to rest and catch up with itself. We are a mystery, our bodies are a mystery and that's also the GIFT in this whole process. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am almost 7 weeks out and I do get a bit more hungry on some days. I may eat a few bites of something then 1 hour later feel hungry again. I think this is normal as we are not eating as much. I still have to supplement my food with protein drinks because I can't eat enough to get all my protein and calorie needs. I feel like there are days that I eat all day long. Then there are days like last night that I get really hungry only to punch in my food to see that I am well under calorie and protein goals. Do you have a nutritionist that you work with? If so, send him/her your food so they can take a look at it. Good luck!!!

I had this about the same time as you. Sometimes my hunger resembled thirst and sometimes it was just that-Hunger. With me it would depend on how much I was exercising. When you work out more, you burn more calories and you are hungrier. Try drinking Gatorade2 (low carb, low cal gatorade) also. It could also be that your electrolytes are off as well. See what works for you!
