I am having my surgery in TJ with Dr. Almanza in Sept, the cost is 4500 plus plane fare, and because of air times I need to spend 2 nights in San Diego, one before and one after- which is extra as well. If your cousin is in India would Thailand be a better fit? Good luck in your search.

@tmclenn - No Thailand for us. We are trying some alternative therapies with my cousin. Recently, ordered nutritional supplements for weight loss. Plus, we're going yoga in the morning and jogging in the evening. And results are inspiring. Cousin is losing it the hard way but satisfying way. Let's see, if it works. Otherwise, we're going to tijuana for gastric sleeve through Mexico-health .

I'm hoping they'll fix me up with one of the doctors this forum speaks highly about.

    @grace331969 - thanks for abbreviating.

Why not contact the Dr. you like directly when/if the time comes? Then you don't have to worry about/pay the middle man.

I had Almanza for the sleeve and paid $4500. In addition I paid for airline tickets and hotel costs.

You fly into San Diego, California, USA the night before your surgery and stay at a hotel. You take your hotel shuttle back to the airport in the morning and the Almanza (Jerusalem Clinic) shuttle picks you up and takes you across the border into TJ. You have your surgery that day and are kept overnight in the clinic.

The next day you are taken to the recovery house ( I opted to pay out of pocket for the Hotel Tiquan in downtown TJ). You stay in recovery for 2 days, get your leak test xray, and then are taken back to San Diego airport for your flight home.

Surgery was on 06-July-2012 with Dr.Sergio Quinones I paid 3,800 but on special for 4k if referred by site. The day of surgery the driver picks you up so you get valet service. Most doctors make you meet their driver at the airport regardless. This doctor doesn't . The driver picked me up and 3 other AMERICANS, he dropped them off to get their surgeries and he dropped me off last. I was taken to the Santa Fe (private hospital). I was shown to my room which is a GREAT SIZE. Also I had the option to bring a friend so you can bring someone at NO additional charge. I was alone so it was just me. I changed into my gown, and put on those surgery socks. They took my blood for testing, and put in an iv for me. The nurses don't speak much english but they give you this card with translations on it and you can point to it. It has several helpful phrases. Being I am from San Diego I didn't get to go to the hotel I opted to just be taken home, so I am no use for that part. This was my experience. They had wifi so I even was blogging while in the hosptial. You can check my blogs for MORE DETAILED INFO. TJ has many AMERICANS LIVING THERE, and like 1 out of every 20 cars is FROM CALIFORNIA, don't let the news frighten you it's like they OVER DO IT. Your picked up from the airport/hotel/(my home) and taken to your facility, you have surgery and you are returned back to the states IT IS THAT SIMPLE. drsergioquinones.com or mydocline@gmail.com

I had Dr Almanza April 27 2011. I am so thankful I made the choice for my VSG as the surgery here would have been over 20K and I would have likely been nearing 300lbs if I had made a different choice.

Mexico was better than I thought it would be! I was scared but once I got there everything was fine. There was always someone with me and I never felt unsafe. I was really surprised by that. Tijuana is just like any other big city--it has run down areas and it has nicer areas. The area near Hotel Ticuan was nice. I used Dr. Almanza and he is very experienced. The cost was very nice. The clinic setting is not a big deal---there are dozens of clinics in Austin, Texas that are in shopping centers where the doctors do liposuction on a daily basis! I have been to one myself for a microdermabrasion--and there were women getting liposuction by the doctor. So it is being done in the U.S. all of the time.

    Hi,
I have also been looking through forums on feedback and doctors in Mexico. I am in contact with Dr.Garcia in Tijuana this is what I had received as far as price information -The cost for sleeve gastrectomy (5 nights) is $4,700.00. The price covers ground transport to and from San Diego, your pre-operative lab work, physical, pre-operative 1 hotel night, your hospital stay (2 nights ), post op x-ray, 2 nights of post op hotel and all post-op medications. All packages include everything except your airfare.

Even though I am almost 100% positive I am going with Dr.Garcia I also reached out to Dr.Alvarez to see the cost and this is what I was told Hospital (2 nights),Hotel (2 nights) *,All ground transportation *, Preop blood test, Preop Chest X-ray, Surgery, Anesthesiologist's fee,Surgeon's assistant's fee, OR nurses' fee, Dr. Alvarez's fee, Nutritional information, Discharge medications, 24 hr support from EndoBariatric.com staff in the U.S. and Mexico, Our exclusive Gastric Sleeve pillow and discharge package bag for $ 8,700.

Just thought I would share a little Best of luck to you.

They will send you an email with a link to follow and you pay securely via Paypal.
I am in Australia and this is how I have paid.
I am going there next week.
Reason, price as well as the surgeons in Tijuana are the most experienced...
    Will keep you posted.

I researched Thailand and you will be looking at $18,000 and 3 weeks in Thailand. One week in hospital, covered by the cost and 2 weeks in a hotel at your own cost.
Having the sleeve in Mexico.. all up, flight, hotel works out under $8000.
