How many days post op in hospital?

I am in the process of considering getting the sleeve. Of course, the amount of time in the hospital is a big concern. You were home the same day???
That is awesome! I see people on here that were in the hospital 3 or 4 days. How were you able to get out on the same day?

The surgeon who operated on me only performs same-day surgeries, so I was able to have surgery in the morning and be discharged to home that same night.

I would have been allowed to stay overnight if I experienced uncontrolled pain, nausea, vomiting, bleeding, or any other major complications. Thankfully, none of those transpired.

4 days! I'm currently in shock that my sleeve sx is in 4 days! Wow time flies. So wondering how many days fellow sleevers are staying over night in the hospital post-op? I was told 1 or 2. I'm hoping for 2 it's just so crazy at home with a 7year old daughter, 2 goldens and 3 cats! No peace and quiet! Also anything else I should know or bring with me to the hospital? Thanks

I had a complication and second surgery the same Thursday I had VGS. I went home Sunday afternoon, but felt great when I left

Most insurance companies only cover 1 night stay in the hospital for this type of surgery unless there are complications. I was admitted in the morning and left early afternoon the next day.

I was scheduled for an overnight. I had a slight complication, resulting in a second surgery the same day with a blood transfusion. So I ended up staying 3 days. But we're only 5 minutes from the hospital, so it didn't impact us too much. And I really felt good. I think I could have gone on home

I was sleaved on the 5th of May. I was recommended to stay for 2 to 3 days, but I've stayed for 4 and it was worth it. But it really depends.

The majority of the times patients stay for 2 nights at the hospital, in some cases they will be required to stay longer or patient can opt to stay a few extra days. I'm speaking from experience with weight loss surgery in Mexico. The decision is made by the doctor and if she/he considers you are not in conditions to leave after two nights at the hospital, you will be required to stay. Weight loss surgery, like any kind of medical procedure is subject to variability so patients should be prepared to stay extra nights if needed.
