I went home on day 3 because I have atrial fibrillation and had an episode so wanted to keep me a little longer. But most people leave on day 2.
I stayed 3 1/2 days. Surgery on a Monday morning and released mid-afternoon on Thursday. I had a really bad day the day after surgery which kept me in the hospital 1 extra day.

My surgery is Oct 8th (a Tuesday) and I am currently wondering the same thing. I know it depends on a lot of factors but my husband works for a very small company and he can only take one day off, my Dad said she would take 2 days off to look after me. I'm not even sure which days to tell them to take b/c I don't know when I'll be discharged or when I would need them the most.
I went in for surgery last wednesday and came home on sunday. My doctor said I wasnt taking in enough fluids to come home but he wanted to get me out of the hospital so he put a pic line in my arm to give me fluids. I go back to the doctor tomorrow to hopefully get my pic line out. but I'm only getting in about 32 ounces of liquid
where you are right at 32 ounces it isnt the 64, obviously. everywhere I have read in the forums say that you have to work up to the 64 ounces. This being said im getting 101 ounces of fluid through my picc line and 32 ounces on my own. in the hospital i was only getting 5-10 ounces on my own so this is quite the improvement. Once I get off the picc line im sure my body will want more to drink, but as of now my body just doesnt want more and im having trouble getting more than 32 of my own ounces. thanks for your input.
I'm getting closer to my surgery date, both excited and very nervous at the same time. Everyone in my support group at the hospital seems to say they either stayed one to two nights depending. I have off a full two weeks from work so I am hoping this works out ok.
My surgery is also scheduled for Tuesday Oct 8th! Originally, I had it set for Oct 10th but didn't realize I was going to have to stay over night, so I moved it to earlier in the week. I plan on going back to work on Tuesday Oct 15th. Lucky you for having 2 weeks off!!

My surgeon says one night. I'm self pay, so if I have to stay more than one night I would have to pay EXTRA. I do live only 15 minutes from the hospital, so I don't think I need to worry.
As most have said, its about 3 days if all is well, i was in critical care for 24 hours, but was still out in 3 days, it does depend if the stomach is sealed correctly without leeks, but this is rare! very rare
Hi,
So you had it done in March, how are you feeling? I have the band but it has slipped so going in to be taken out and she wants to do the sleeve on me, I think Im going to go for it, but need some feedback, and need to do some research on it,so anything you have to share would be great.
Thanks
