    Smile Hello

Hi my name is Whitney. I am 8 months out from being sleeved. I have lost 136 lbs since surgery and since June of 2009 a total of 175lbs so it has been a journey for sure. I had major complications which don't happen often but am doing good and happy I had the surgery. Found this forum and thought I would check it out. I am sure like me we are all working to figure out how to make the lifestyle change and deal with the changes our bodies and minds are going through. Looking to hear from others and supporting everyone.

Hi Whitney! Thanks for joining the site.
Congrats on your success with the gastric sleeve.
Curious what happened as far as complications.. but in any event, glad it wasn't enough for you to regret getting sleeved anyway.
Please make yourself at home here on our forums.. and we'll speak soon

    Default complication explained

Well my surgeon hit an artery and didn't know it so I bled internally for awhile before they realized it and ended up in ICU for 5 days and the hospital room for 2 more additional days after that just trying to get my strength back. Unfortunately they had to replace all my blood supply and it has made for a much longer recovery. So that is what ended up being the complication. But the sleeve has given me my life back and I wouldn't change that for anything. When you come from 482 and home bound you appreciate even the slightest of weight loss--I get to enjoy more than slightest though because of the sleeve. I wouldn't change my decision because with every bad thing that goes on in your life--you have to find the good that might come out of it.
