Liquid Diet ????

I'm coming up on my surgery on July 9th and no one has mentioned to me about any type of liquid diet prior to surgery to shrink the liver, has anyone not had to go on this diet prior? I just wanted to know if this is normal for some. I will be contacting my Doctor to find out, I just thought I ask. Thanks in advance .

I only had to go on liquids the day before surgery.

My surgeon wants me to go on a two week full liquid high protein pre-operative diet. The nutritionist gave me a 13 items to mix and match. It honestly does not look too bad. I am going to follow it...I don't want to start my journey by self sabotaging even before I have the procedure done

I had surgery on 6/19/12. No liquid diet at all! I could eat or drink until 11pm the night before! I chose to not eat that day after lunch. I do regret not having dinner bc After surgery i couldn't tolerate pain meds. They thought it was prob bc I had been on an empty stomach for a day!

Check with your surgeon. I have a BMI of 48. So my doc requires a 10 day liquid pre-op. If it was under 40, the diet would have been 3 days only. It is better to be safe than sorry.
