Default Who would consider plastic surgery?

I am getting closer to my goal. I hope that over time the skin will adjust more, but at my age and how long it was stretched, I am not overly optimistic. Would you consider surgery? I think I would. I don't need to ever wear a bikini again but I would like to wear a good fitting pair of jeans and t-shirt without a bunch of loose skin hanging over. Has anyone out there had plastic surgery? Have you done any research into it? I know I need to wait about a year after I reach my goal but just wanting to be prepared if I do decide to go ahead with it.

I am hoping I can do it. My dr says it hurts a lot more than our sleeve. I still think I willwant it.

I'm not big on pain, but thinking about them stretching your skin and cutting off the excess...that has got to hurt! Especially because the skin has all the nerve endings in it. My husband had surgery to remove cancer-the incision didn't hurt hardly at all, but the place where they took the skin for the skin graft was extremely painful!
But I think it would be worth it....and that's what drugs are for! haha

I know I'm only a few weeks out from my surgery, but I'm already saving my pennies to have plastic surgery. Much for the same reasons originally listed ... I could care less if I'm walking around in a bikini, but I'd like to wear jeans or a dress and not feel self conscious about all the excess skin.

I looked into pricing, on the preliminary side and I'm looking at about $30k for my arms, tummy and breasts ... OUCH

Yes, I would consider it. Just the tummy though. However, after I finish paying for the sleeve, not sure if I'll be able to afford it!

LOL, I still think about it. After all the drama I went through with this and every other surgery I have had I say no now, but as time goes bye we will see. My family and friends after what I put them through with this one say NO way they will NOT support me. Espically my mom and daugher and I can not blame them at all. I always seem to have complications. In the end I probably won't with my track record, but I will wan it and hoefully not be so tempted I lose myself. Only time will tell for me.

My doc does a tummy tuck for nearly every one of his patients. If you have insurance (we have Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield), he says to start complaining about your skin rubbing and bothering you as soon as you start losing or that you feel there is a rash where the skin is rubbing. Then when you reach goal the insurance will pay for the tummy tuck. We will have to pay for arms or anything else we may want to have tucked but at least insurance will pay for the tummy.

I am totally looking into plastic surgery after I reach my goal. I was sagging before the sleeve anyway. Its only going to get worse. I've heard rumors that my sleeve surgeon has been talking with a plastic surgeon about how they can get our insurance to pay for post WLS plastic surgery. I've heard that some plastic surgeons give a discount to WLS patients, it doesn't hurt to ask!

I can't wait until I am at my goal weight to get some work done. I also plan to get the tattoo I've wanted for years when I hit my goal.

thankfully my insurance will pay for a tummy tuck and maybe the breast lift I plan to toss in with it....the legs and arms, I plan on being a beast in the gym and avoiding as much sagging as possible...not looking forward to the plastic surgery as I know it will be way more painful than the sleeve and my down time way more, but I think I will really want to have it done....

I've been a plastic surgery candidate since 1999, when I lost the first 150 lbs that Norplant (loosely translated as *^$@%^&*) was kind enough to bestow on me. My Boobs went south, my upper thighs....I can't even describe, and my stomach is in competition with my boobs as to who will reach my knees first.

12 years of yo-yo weight loss and gain, and I could pass for a SHARPEI PUPPY when I'm naked. And that's without even being close to my goal weight with the sleeve!!!!

So yeah, I'm definitely looking to have my thighs done, my tummy whacked to bits and the Tata's titillated. I haven't had a girlish figure since I was 26 and I MISS THAT B*TCH! LOL!

Anyone else noticed that only women responded to this thread?

    I haven't decided yet.

For those wanting to know of ways for insurance to cover it. A friend of mine recently paired up a tummy tuck when she had a hysterectomy. Insurance covered the removal of extra skin during the hysterectomy procedure. Her healing time was about 4 weeks if I remember correctly.

The only plastic surgery I want is a neck lift and an eyelid tuck. I have some loose skin on my tummy and some on my underarms, but nothing that I can't hide with clothing. Control top pantyhose or Spanx are all I need to stop any jiggling of the tummy. (I know, you younger ladies don't wear pantyhose, so just trust me on the Spanx, OK?) And for the arms, there is this new product called "Ch'arms," that adds lacey or sheer mesh or lightweight sleeves as a layer under sleeveless tops and dresses...it's perfect! It's like an underblouse without a neckline, so that it doesn't interfere with the neckline of your tank top of sleeveless dress or blouse...all you see are the sleeves. You can buy them at HSN: Ch'Arms by Kathy Najimy Women's Fashion at HSN.com Anyway, that's my plan unless I hit the lottery and decide to go for more sculpting surgeries.
