Who would consider plastic surgery?

I would love to be able to get the plastic surgery---tummy tuck at least. I am 58 years old, so we all know I will never be in a bikini, but I still think the excess skin will be a hindrance.

So just start saving anyway. If you don't really need the surgery, you can use the money for a dream vacation or a new wardrobe (or both)!

Anyone else noticed that only women responded to this thread?

Because men can go do that "Incredible Hulk" pose in front of the bathroom mirror and when they walk away, in their own mind, they still look like that! LOL!!!!

(My husband is proof positive....claims he's keeping his 6 pack iced down behind the "keg"!)

I have a friend who had the tummy tuck after by-pass, but she really needed it. She said it was very painful and took a long time to recover. It'd have to be major skin sagging for me to do it, although I've always wanted a boob lift. I've had saggy boobs when I was skinny!

hi dave - where r u considering having all this work performed? have u looked into the cost of it? i am only 7 days post op and 6 lbs down and need to drop another 40-50 lbs so i don't know where i am going to be flappy skin wise. when i was 32 years old i had breast implants which now need to be replaced so i am considering have those done and then a tummy tuck which i have heard is so damn painful.

i just renovated my kitchen and laundry room and a self pay on this surgery so i'm tapped out. i think i'll be joining a gym and hopping on the treadmill i have in my garage.

i hear of lots of wls patients going to south america for plastic surgery. in new orleans a face lift is 15-20k, breast lift 10k, tummy 10k. i would have to guess they are discounts for all in one day procedures. yikes, talk about recovery!

I've only been to Dr Almanaz web site, figured I'd go to the same place - maybe get their brochure when I am sleeved ;-)

I plan on having my tummy done because I already have a constant case if yeast infection under my tummy and in the creases of my legs. I have already talked to my primary care doctor and she said that insurance will pay for removing the skin but not a full tummy tuck. With the full tummy tuck they attach your skin to your muscle. I would love to have my chin done but we have paid for the surgery ourselves so it may be a long time before the chin. I guess I will just wear turtlenecks.HAHA Wendy Mac

after my sister had gastric bypass and lost over 250lbs, she has developed alot of back pain from the excess skin hanging now. Her insurance refuses to pay for skin removal stating it is a cosmetic surgery. I have heard of burn center hospitals doing skin removal surgery for weight loss surgery patients if the patients are willing to donate the skin to burn victims. Personally for me, the saggy skin wont bother me as long as it is not causing me pain. My intention is to get in an exercise routine as soon as possible after my sleeve surgery to help tone it all up. I think if my sister had done an exercise program after her surgery she wouldnt be having all this issue with pain.

i forgot that i saw a program on 60 minutes recently about thailand and the wonderful medical facility there that are doing lots of surgeries for americans who do not have insurance or cannot aford the surgery state side. there was one particular woman in her 50's who decided to do a two in one, fact-lift and then vacation. the face lift was $1500. i have always thought, u pay for what you get. this is something i really have to contemplate about. hopefully loosing 50 lbs won't be that drastic, but i'm not willing to look 70 years old before my time, yes, i'm sort of vain too.
