Ok so here is my story, I have been on this forum since June or July of last year, I wanted to have lap band surgery but after going to the dr. and doing all that was required of me, I changed my mind. so then I decided to have the sleeve, well my insurance turned that down 3 times. So at that time I was told my option was gastric bypass, well my labs and medical history were awful. I was told by my dr that my kidneys were now only working at about 23 percent. Health issues were really bad and I was going down hill fast!!! so I decided to go to Mx and take the risk. I did my research, talked to many people on this wonderful forum for months. then I scheduled my surgery and went! well I was so scared, of flying, and the surgery of coarse! but did it. came home and thats when my life started. I lost weight, started to get more energy, felt like a human being again. Now I was on nearly 30 pills a day! at this point the weight started to come off, I didn't exercise at the begining. I was to weak. but after a few months I started to walk, its been about 10 months now and I walk, swim, run, and play endlessly with my grandaughter. I went to the dr. for my 6 mo labs yesturday. and they were the best ever!!! I was on 2 pills for diabetes and shots ea day, now I take 1 pill no insulin and my labs were 4.5 now if you dont know what that means, its at a normal persons level with out diabetes, yeah!!! gout GONE, thyroid was hypo, now its hyper, so I am coming off that med but will remain on a lower dosage. high bloodpressure was on 8 or 9 pills now 2! still have to take them because of my kidney disease but wow IM saving tons of money. heart failure i can breath now and walk, better then ever. Now lets talk about my kidney disease, yes I was told that I just gave myself a new lease on life, I was give less than 2 yrs to live before surgery, now who knows how long I will live. He told me(my family dr) that this was the best thing that I could have done for my self, he knew that I was always trying to get healthier but needed that extra help, with all the meds it was almost impossible to get healthy with all that in my body. kidneys are now working at 74 percent. I couldn't have asked for better news!!!! as far as all the other labs that they ask you to get, all the vitamins and stuff. all levels I mean ALL were perfect. no more cholesterol problems, vit B perfect, c, d and iron perfect!!! I can't remember ever having labs this good. Oh and yesturday he told his staff not to charge me for my visit!!! he was so impressed by my transformation, and he told me I looked wonderful. Now who can every be more happy than that!!! I am so blessed to have a great dr. and this wonderful forum for all the support, because without each of you, i may not have had the surgery. it was the support that kept me going, the support that made me see that I wasn't alone. so remember that if you are new to this forum keep on the path that you are on, don't give up, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that light is going to shine on you!!!! I share the news when I meet someone that is as sick as I was, and hope that they find their way. I sorry if I rambled but It was such great news and I feel so blessed to have gotten extra time on this earth to share with my grandaughter, and my new grandson that will be here in 3 months. I now can say that I get to see them grow up and shine!!!
