    Default "Feur De Lis" Abdominoplasty

Has anyone done the mommy make over and included the Fleur De Lis? I saw a surgeon who says it is the only way to tighten the muscles above the belly button!
I would like some input on that if anyone has knowledge

I believe what you are referring to is the "anchor", the "vertical" or "Fleur-de-lys" abdominoplasty. This involves removing not only the lower abdominal skin and fat, but also adding a vertically-oriented segment shaped like an inverted "V" in the upper midline. When the surgery is completed, this leaves a T-shaped or "anchor" shaped incision.
This is usually for people who have lost over 125 pounds and still have lots of fullness and lack elasticity in the abdomen area.

If you have had a previous traditional open-style gastric bypass operation and have a scar there already, the fleur-de-lys approach is a reasonable option, because it does not add any new scars.

    Advantages of the fleur-de-lys approach:
    - better tightening of upper abdominal zone when obvious laxity is present
    - may permit excision of previous old-fashioned gall-bladder surgery scars
    - gives horizontal tightening, unlike a standard abdominoplasty

    Disadvantages:
    - more scars, which are not as well hidden as a standard abdominoplasty
    - has potential for wound healing problems at intersection of incisions

wow, thanks for that info. I have an old fashioned gallbladder removal scar - 8" long horizontal scar 3-4" above my belly button. of course, I've got the little sleeve scars, 3 C-sec scars, apendectomy scars...nice to know there could be some 'advantage' in the upper gallbladder scar..lol. I'm in most need of the upper arm lift as my little frame piled on the weight there and the skin is wrinkled and weird...but I'm also wary about big gross scars visible to others from the upper arm lift.

Sounds similar to the 'corset trunkplasty'.
