Why am i not having any gas???

Is it possible that there isnt any? I have no gas pains and only an occasional gurgle after drinking my shakes or water.
I'm 3 days post op and still nothing? Should I be concerned that its just storing itself in there for later?
Also, I havent had a bowel movement either...????
Should I be worried or consider myself lucky?

LUCKY! Some times the surgeon can suck out all of the gas and thus you wont have any pain. I have been in a few operations when they have used air thingy... once it was so bad i was screaming blue murder... this time it wasnt to bad at all... it depends how much of the gas your surgeon gets out before he closes you up. I am also day 3 and the only bowel movements i have had are little gas releases. I guess because im not eating anything solid, nothing solid has to come out.

I'd say you're lucky!! I'm 5 day out now and only get gas pain when i eat my "meals" (pudding or cream soup) but even then it's just little bubbles that go away quickly, if you're still drinking shakes & water only you're probably just not producing any at this point! I suspect the same goes for the BM's, I don't think shakes are substantial enough to make you go.

I agree - consider yourself very lucky. I had horrible gas pains for two weeks after surgery, but they are almost gone now. You will be constipated, because there is nothing in your stomach to get rid of. My surgeon prescribed Lactulose to be taken every day for a month, and it helped.

Lucky. I didn't have gas pains either and feel very fortunate for that.

I didn't have any gas pain until week 2 of all things. My 1st day back to work, right after lunch I was standing in my office and suddenly out of nowhere I had the most horrendous pains in my upper left shoulder. My secretary almost called 911 thinking I was having a heart attack.It was gas and a few hours later I started to pass it through the intestines. It was the weirdest thing. The doctor said it can travel up where you wouldn't think. Glad you're having a good time of recovery.

My gas pains post-op were manageable, but today, day 10, worst gas pains ever! Burping, farting, and belching constantly and my back and shoulder are aching. Enjoy the gas free days!

(Oh, the nerve that goes up to your shoulder crosses through your belly, so when you are gassy/bloated, this is why you can feel the pain in your shoulder).

I didn't have any gas pains either and FTR we are talking about the CO2 correct? The other kind of gas wasn't a bother for me either and I think I had a BM at 4-5 days out.

Everyone - try peppermint tea or peppermint water - they really help. Also, move as much as possible because the movement does disperse the gas. I had dreadful gas for a while, but it has gone now apart from when I eat too quickly.

I had my surgery on Oct. 24 and gas was not so much of an issue.......... at the time. As the days progressed, it got much worse. My body was making such loud intestinal sounds and growls that I told my kids they should record it and play it on Halloween for a scary background track!

consider yourself one of the lucky ones. The gas pains were awful for me! You're not missing out, trust me!
