    Default Alcohol and the sleeve

K, kinda weird question. Before surgery I couldn't handle alcohol - 1 or 2 drinks and I was feel pretty sick. I really didn't like to drink because I always ended up feeling like I was going to throw up.

However, 11 months out, I'm able to drink 6-8 beers (or 3-4 glasses of wine) and be happily drunk, feel good, not like I'm going to throw up at all. What's going on? I'm curious as to what changes could have occurred that I am seemingly able to "handle" my alcohol.

That is totally Bizarre!! Most people cannot drink as much. maybe you just get drunk faster now so you drink more? I used to enjoy drinking socially (not really to get really DRUNK) I would have wine or martini's over the course of an evening i could drink 2-3 at most without getting plastered. but now...it is HORRIBLE i can only drink about 1/4 a glass of wine. the first time i was handed a Martini i drank half of it and found myself unable to stand up and i could barely speak. I had not been that stinking drunk since my wild young days of Party-till-you-drop faze! Now i pretty much take a couple sips of my hubby's drink and call it good! Definitely a cheap Drunk! ah well, Alchohol is fattening so at least that is a positive for my teetotal situation! Love Rainbow

Doesn't beer count as carbonation? I can't imagine drinking a beer now (don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good beer). They filled me up so quickly that I can't even think how fast it would fill me up now. I can have a glass of red wine without dificulty though. Haven't tried anything else. Going to the Indy 500 on Sunday and will probably have a little something.

Wow I can't handle any carbanation, although I can drink like you too. I can finish a whole bottle of Vodka and still be OK. I stay away from beer because it probably the worse alcholic beverage you can drink. I believe that's where I gained all my weight before surgery.

I only have it once in a while....just something I noticed is all, it's weird. I wonder if our stomachs don't absorb the full amount of alcohol? Thanks for the responses everyone.
