Default Fail. 8 weeks out, barely making a dent in my weight loss!

I am coming up on my 8th week, and only I'm down 29.5 lbs! I have literally been inching my way down for weeks now and I feel like a failure... I am constantly in fear that this will not work and I won't reach goal (which is another 75 pounds).... can someone please tell me what their diet, excersize, vitamin, and water intake daily is, so that I have a clear idea of what I need to possibly do differently?

    thank you

That's 3.5 pounds a week. More than I lose. Not sure what your expectations were, but that is well within average, if not above average.

You don't want to loose too much too quick. That is so not good for your body. Two years ago I had the band put in and within 5 months I had lost 75 pounds. Then that was it I just stopped loosing. Lots of adjustments later I gained about 15 back. Had the sleeve last week and I am down 9. You will have weeks when the weight just falls off and some weeks will be a struggle. Hang in there I bet you see great progress in the next week or so.

Yea that's really great weight loss. It sounds like you are doing great. After the first couple of weeks you really can't expect to lose more than 2 or 3 pounds a week especiall if you are a woman and at the weight you started at. Keep it up you're doing great. I just checked my chart and at 8 weeks I was down 27 pounds post surgery.

I havent had mine done yet, but I just wanted to say I think 30 lbs is a huge accomplishment. Everyone loses differently. What I've learned in my classes at Kaiser is that if you get back to the basics- protein, vitamins, water, exercise- you will be successful. It sounds like you are doing awesome! Hang in there=)

I think you are doing great. try not to expect so much at first to come so quickly. when you have high expectations and they don't happen right away you start to feel like giving up but don't just remember and remind your self that there is always light at the end of the tunnel and keep up the good work before you know it you will be closer to your goal weight. and by the way going on 7 weeks post op and i've only lost 30lbs.

I'm about the same as you. 28 lbs... and wednesday will be 8 weeks.

A little more would be nice (ha ha)... but I"m happy. Heck it took me almost 6 months to lose 36 lbs... so I"ll take 28 lbs in 2 months!!!

I'm in the same boat - 3 months out and only down 34 pounds. I eat 4 small meals a day. Literally a cup or less of food total each meal. But when I get more exercise the weight drops a bit. It is frustrating but if you can up the exercise and keep focused on the protein and healthy veggies.... It just may not be a steady drop for us but a step down, plateau, step down, plateau. Keep the faith! we are strong and can get there...eventually!

    Dear Friends -
The average weight drop for VSG is 2 to 2.5 lbs a week. That's 104 to 130 lbs a year. For 8 wks it would be 16 to 20 lbs.
    Just saying...
Have you ever dropped even 10 lbs a month and been pretty darned sure it's never going to come back?
It's better to lose at a steady rate, your skin will have a chance to catch up and so will your head...

Everyone loses at different rates. Hang in there because you are losing and that is all that matters. I am on about 600-800 calories a day and try real hard to get in 80 grams of protein a day. I also walk every morning and bring my hand weights and lift my arms while walking. It is not always easy but you will get there and you know what they say...the slower it comes off the more it will stay off. Hugs!

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and right about 30 lbs, and we are close in starting weight. At first I was a bit upset then I started looking more positively at it---it is a loss and I know I am losing inches as I just moved down another jeans size (that makes 2 since surgery). If I keep losing at this rate at 6 months I will be to my goal, would rather get their slowly then not at all.

WHAT GRACE SAID!! Any diet I've ever tried, if I lost 1-2 lbs a week I was THRILLED!! I don't think I ever lost 8-10 lbs a month consistently, so after I finally get sleeved, that will be my goal, 8-10 lbs a month. We all would like this crap to just fall off of us, but I think it's healthier for it to be slower. I'm thinking a lesser chance for deficiencies and such, and maybe less of a chance for hair loss. Who knows, maybe I'm way out in left field, and I'll probably be on here grumbling about not losing and stalls too, but hopefully I can heed my own advice.

By the way, I think you all look great, as I sit here not so patiently awaiting my turn! lol

My Dr. said my sleeve only holds 4 oz and to eat no longer than 30 minutes. If you try to eat a cup full of food you can if you take longer than 30 mins. I tried eating 3/4 cup of soup and couldn't. I am 15 days out and down 15 lbs. I lost 7 during my pre-op, so my total is 22 pounds in 3 weeks. I am using "my fitness pal" to record my intake and being religious about it. I haven't started exercising yet, but am usually very active in the summer months cause I live by the lake. Do you know the size of your sleeve? My starting weight was 235, I can't wait until I'm at 192 where you are!! Congrats fibromighty!
