Default What's On Your Menu Today?

In an attempt to keep my food as nutritious/weight loss friendly as I can, I've decided to post my menus so I can stick to them.

    Today:

    Breakfast:

    1 c. lowfat/skim milk mixed for tea (120 calories, 9 grams protein)
    1/2. c. 0% Greek yogurt (60 calories, 11 grams protein)

    Lunch:

Chicken skewer (30 grams protein, 130)
1/4 guacamole to dip it in (80 cal)

    Dinner:

    1. c. crab salad (120 calories, 23 grams protein)
1/2 c. split pea soup (50 calories, 3 grams protein)

There will be more add ins like sugar free pudding, popsicles, lowfat cottage cheese but that's the basic plan. If I get hungrier (I do a lot of exercise) and need some snacks I'll note it here. I know we have Sparkspeople etc. but I'm hoping that doing this "in public" w/ y'all will help inspire me.

Feel free to add your own menu if you like.

Edited to add... My eating habits suck!

Wait, we have actual movement here? The thread's not dead? I was ready to give it a nice funeral and let the sucker die!

Don't feel bad, michelleb. I had my morning menu all perfect yesterday and then I went on a long walk and ran into a girlfriend who I owed a lunch and conversation. So, um, MEXICAN FOOD happened. I ordered two small tacos, ate some of one at lunch and a couple spoonfuls of refried beans, and had the other taco and more refried beans for dinner. While it all tasted great I drank a protein shake later on cuz I wasn't sure I got enough protein.

Today's breakfast menu was the same except I ate 4 oz of Greek yogurt for breakfast, and the other 4 for "lunch." So I may need some more snacks for protein later.

Dinner is going to be 2 oz of crab salad, 2 oz shrimp and 1/4 c. of the split pea soup. If I can get more protein in and I'm feeling draggy (I took a 2 hour walk today!) I'm going to do it, whether it be chicken, shake, shrimp, cottage cheese, whatever.

    I had:
    1/2 cup of oatmeal w/cinnamon
    1/2 cup of almond milk

1/2 can of tuna in water
    1 T miracle whip

    1 cup of homemade soup
    1 T peanut butter

Will have some greek yogurt later on and maybe 1/2 protein shake since I didn't hit my protein requirements today.

Dinner ended up being 5 oz of shrimp and 1/2 avocado...it really was a lot and I had to eat it over several hours, but I wanted the shrimp finished up and I've got a bunch of avocados...that kind of thinking is not the best. I have to go back to the smaller portions, no matter what. If I want something finished up I need to throw it out...my surgery was covered by my insurance so I shouldn't worry about throwing out some food. It's hard, though. Had a protein shake for "dessert" and a few spoonfuls of lentil soup.

    Today's menu:

Breakfast same as yesterday-yogurt in the morning is pretty much my standard. (120 calories, 22 grams protein)

Lunch: chicken skewer (finally!) (30 grams protein, 130 calories)
1/4 c. guacamole to dip it in (80 cal, not sure about protein)

    Dinner

2-3 oz crab salad (want to finish this up, too, but will take it easy) (22 grams of protein)
1/2 c. split pea soup (calories neglable, 5 grams of protein)
ff pudding (60 calories, 2 grams protein)

    Today...

Breakfast: 3 mini frittatas (made in a mini muffin tin that makes 24 at a time). No idea about nutrition values, but ingredients were: eggs, shredded cheddar, ham, green onion, onion, gartlic, oregano, basil

Lunch: Protein shake with 10 oz light Vanilla Soy, 1 scoop protein powder, 2 tbsp PB2, 3 tbsp Hershey's Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup. 243 calories, 12g carbs, 36g protein.

Dinner: 1/2 of a Quinoa and turkey stuffed pepper. No idea about the values again, but will contain quinoa, ground turkey, part skim ricotta, mushrooms, onion, garlic, red bell pepper and marinara sauce. Recipe makes 4 halves stuffed.

I am extremely frustrated because on the 5 day pouch test last week I lost 4 pounds, but now my weight is steady since last Thursday and seems to be up 1/2 a pound as of this morning (been creeping up by .2 lbs the last few days!). I know it's water weight, but I have no idea what it's coming from. I am hoping to figure out this weekend if my demons are carbs (I usually take in less than 60 a day, and according to MY plan I am allowed up to 100 a day if I want), or sodium intake is making me bloated. I always keep the carbs to complex carbs ONLY (whole grains or beans), but if I have to cut them out 100% except what might be in veggies, I will! My calorie intake average about 650 - 750 a day. Grrrrrr!

DISCLAIMER: I do not count calories -- I DO keep a log on myfitnesspal though, and that counts all the calories for me. I use myfitnesspal primarily to keep track of my protein per day. Just looking back at previous entries I can easily figure out my average calorie intake.

I usually have the same breakfast and my daily menu for yesterday was:

Breakfast - 1 non-fat plain greek yogurt 19 grams protein, 4 strawberries, 1/4 cup low-fat granola; all mixed together is yummy, like a parfait and I love this breakfast the best. I also have a medium DD coffee, little cream and splenda.

    20 ozs. water

Snack - 7 mini carrots w/greek yogurt dip

Lunch - 6 cooked shrimp (medium sized), cocktail sauce

    20 ozs. Vitamin Water Zero

20 more ozs of water on ride home

Dinner - (my hardest meal of the day) - 3-4 ozs. of chicken, broccoli rabe, 1 tbl. mashed potato

    Snack - 1/4 cup cereal w/skim milk.

I don't count calories or protein, but just eat healthfully as possible and what my stomach feels like it can handle. I also had a fork of birthday cake before going to bed because my skinny hubby was eating a piece and it looked good.lol... I put on a pair of pants that are size 14 and used to fit, now they're too big. I also went down 5 sizes in panties..lol

I'm sure the apps. are helpful, but if I get too crazy about counting calories/proteins; it's too much like work instead of a lifestyle. I keep losing, albeit, a little more slowly now and the inches are coming off and most importantly, I feel great and the doc says "all is well". I'm keeping it to "one day at a time" and moving forward with this new lifestyle. I do wish you all continued success on your journey.

Breakfast was 1 hard boiled egg 1 oz cheese and coffee with FF, creamer
Lunch: 1/2 c. FF greek yogurt with 3 sliced strawberries.
Dinner tonight will be 4 oz of blackened fish, 1 pc. cauliflower with sprinkle of cheese, 1/4 c. beets. SF fudgecicle for snack later in the evening.

My meals are simple and boring...lol I don't go crazy with counting every calorie either, mainly because I rarely get past 700-800. My main focus is getting all my protein and water. I'm happy to report I'm now drinking 75 oz water a day (most days anyway)

Well, I am newly sleeved and figuring it out and really am concentrating on the protein b/c not only is it good for healing it keeps your body from losing muscle if calories dip too low. I'm also very mindful of the 6 month window that we have to lose weight...I want to take as much advantage of it as I can.

Breakfast: Scrambled egg 3oz, 1/2 slice 2% cheese, 1 sausage link mashed up (occasionally a SF iced coffee)

Lunch: Two turkey meatballs (Jenny-O) mashed up w/ some marinara

Dinner: 2oz LF refried beans, 1/2 slice 2% cheese, shredded fajita chicken 1oz

I buy a 44 oz ice water to carry to work and sip on through the day. My goal is to finish it before I go home.

Sadly this has been a pretty regular menu....I seriously need to do some experimenting....
