Vitamin intake after gastric sleeve.

My family doctor just checked my labs (particularly my vitamin levels). I'll be doing follow care with my primary care physician since I had
surgery in Mexico. By vitamin A & D were low as well as my calcium. I was taking two childrens chewable vitamins daily but I am now switching
to 2 adult multi vitamins as well as 2 calcium chews with vitamin D daily. He is going to check levels again in early September and see if that helped
at all.

In the letter my surgeon wrote to my Dr it said 'She has to be on vitamin supplements and calcium with vitamin D3 regularly and probably a B12 injection every three months'.

I went out and got my multi vits and calcium with vitamin D a few days ago. I also got Evening Primrose Oil liquid, i've been taking the capsuals for a while now but won't be able to take them post-op so the liquid is a must. i hope it tastes ok. :s

I agree. My husband had gastric bypass on 4-18-11 and I had the sleeve on 7-16-11. We have been taking sublingual Vitamin B12 for the past several months and will contiinue to do so the rest of our lives. We take a bariatric vitamin, Vitamin C and Calcium, biotin (to prevent or decrease hair loss). I started doing this before my surgery so that I would get in the habit before hand. I am glad I did. Now it is routine and also improved my overall health before the surgery. Our doctor requires that we continue on vitamin supplements the rest of our lives to prevent any deficiencies. If you are anemic you might even require iron. So, vitamins are a must to stay healthly and prevent long term vitamin and mineral deficiencies in your body!

I made sure I had liquid vitamins in the house to start taking as soon as I got home. I take a liquid multi that takes care of the B12. And I am taking a liquid Calcium with Magnesium and D. I am supposed to take the calcium 3 times a day and was doing well with it the first five or six days, but I keep forgetting my second and third dose now. I think with going back to work tomorrow I will be able to pre-pack everything, the calcium vitamin included and I will be able to stick to it better. I am going to premix what I can of the stuff that I am bringing to work to make it easier on me through the day. I have one week and two days left on liquids going back to work. After that I will have to prepare vitamins and pureed food the night before for each day for two weeks.

My surgeon recommended B12 injections once a month. I get mine from my regular doctor but I have a friend who administers his own. It seems to be common for each surgeon to have different preferences.

can u take a pill like Centrum for example or Pantogar (an awesome hair booster)?

How long after your sleeve can you go back to taking normal adult vitamins??

Check with your doctor, but I think you can do it after your stomach has fully healed and you are on "normal" foods with no problems. The trick is that a lot of us cannot take vitamins on an empty stomach (because you might get an upset stomach and/or have "vitamin burbs"), so you have to take them after you eat, and then you have to drink some water to get whole pills down...but you're usually too full and you're not supposed to drink much when you eat. I think you get the idea. I typically wait about 1/2 hour to an hour after I eat, and then I have no problem.

My doctor has me on a multi vitamin (3 flinestones complete), B1 tablet once weekly, b12 sublingually once weekly, and Calcium 1500mg. daily)

I take the sub lingual too. But I also drink the vitamin water and it has B12 too.

i just bought a bottle of complete vitamins for post bariatric surgery from walgreens. it was $27 something and it is chewable. it recommends 4 tablets a day. it taste citrusy and chalky but not unbearable. i looked at the ingredients and it had all the vitamins i needed to take and even covered what i was gonna buy to prevent hair loss. im not a good pill taker (chewable, dissolvable, don't matter), im just forgetful about pills. chewing this post bariatric vitamins 4 times a day seemed doable for me.

I am on - 2 chewable adult vitamins (I do 1 a day gummies.) Then 1500 calcuim (I do 4 chewabale carmel squares a day from Bariatric Advantage. ) 1 500 mg of iron daily (Bariatric Advantage again) Sublingual B12 and now Iam suposed to add B1.

HELP ME!!! It seems I am eating more vitamins then food.
