Pre Clearance Doctor Appointments

I need some advice. My surgery date is May 24th. I was doing great with all my doctor's appointments in the month of April so the insurance company would have enough of time to review everything. Well the Pulmonologist (breathing doctor) just called to tell me my orignal appointment for April 4th was being moved to May 10th. Then they scheduled mefor the breathing test on the 15th of May. I am hopping mad because I really think this is going to delay my surgery date. I stressed to them the importatnce of having everything done by the beginning of May. I basically got the shrug off and was told it was out of there hands.

Does anyone think this is going to delay my surgery?????

It shouldn't take long to get results back. However, that being said, if I were you, I would ask to speak to the person in charge--office manager, whoever, and be a pest. Sqieaky wheel gets the grease! Good luck.

I would definitely call them back and make sure they see you as soon as possible. My husband originally had his surgery scheduled for 2/10. However, the had his sleep study done and we never heard back from them, they had said that if there was an issue they would call and set up the next study and CPAP machine. Turns out someone just forgot to notify us. The day before his surgery my husband went to the surgeons office to pick some things up and sign some papers. He had to postpone his surgery until 4/13. He needed a CPAP machine and the surgeon wanted him on it for at least 4 weeks before he would do surgery. I have read some stories from others and their doctors also wanted them on the CPAP for a minimum of four weeks before surgery (if they needed one). Of course you doctor might be different but I would definitely be making some phone calls to find out for sure!

I wouldn't worry about the day you have now for the appt. I'd worry if they tried to change it again. I needed to have a 2 part/day stress test before my medical Dr would clear me. I ended up having the 2nd part of the test TWO days before my surgery and everything was fine. I was nervous a bit though!

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. I will make everything is in order on Monday. I do plan on calling my surgeon to make sure he is good with the dates just to be safe. I have been so nervous about this and I finally convinced myself its a good thing. I want to get it over with already. I'm ready to join all the losers.....LOL.
