Hello there and Welcome, I haven't personally had surgery by him, but there alot of our lovely members who have been to Mexico to a few Dr's. We even have Dr Alvarez as a Member here.
I am sure someone will help you out with your questions soon.
Best of Luck
Sandy
Hi, I know Dr. Almanza, he is a great guy and a great surgeon. We are recommending his services to anyone considering traveling to Mexico to save yourself a nice ten thousand dollars if your insurance isnt covering it otherwise. You can book your surgery with him through our sponsor, http://www.WeightLossAgents.com
Tomcat...I have heard of great reports on Dr. Almanza and Jerusalem Hospital and only good experiences. I was inquisitive and wondering why the price is so low, but being the # 1 place in the whole world, they can reduce their prices because of the many patients they have coming to them. I am seriously thinking about and now in the process of making my plans to go. Louise, their co-ordinator, will give you instructions on what to do after your surgery. If you have any problems, you can go to the Hospital. I know where I go, they specialize in weightloss surgery. Remember that the sleeve is less invasive and less complicated too. LOL
Thank you Bonnie,
I feel a lot better about it now. I have been to get preliminary consultations here in the Dallas area but the price savings is very tempting. My only concern was the follow up and possibility of complications and who would help me. Maybe I am just worrying about nothing
Tomcat...It's very tempting to me because of the price, but also the fact that when you arrive that day, you get your lab tests, EKG, x-ray etc. done, and then do your surgery. You don't wait for weeks for your insurance to approve it being on pins and needles. Also, you're not on weeks of pre-op liquid diet. It's less complicated. When you go home, you go by the diet instructions you are given before you leave. They also have a 24 hr. tele. # where you can reach them if you have any concerns or questions. LOL
btw, anyone interested in getting sleeved with Dr. Almanza can get started at this link, the price is $4499 for everything (minus your airfare to San Diego): WeightLossAgents.com Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I am 5 days out from the surgery and I must say it was not at all what i was worried about. You are treated professionally and courteously. You are in good hands with great people. I have had almost no pain with some nagging gas but when that goes away it will be marvelous. If you are worried do not be in the least. An absolute must is to follow the pre-op diet to a tee and you will experience the same result I had. Best of luck to all and no worries with Dr. Almanza.
I am so happy to be hearing all these wonderful things about Dr. Almanza and the Jerusalem hospital staff. Now I'll just worry about my flight home...Anybody fly cross-country with a stopover? Hope I'll be able to handle it after surgery!
I am having my surgery with Dr. Almanza on Wednesday May 4th and it can't get here fast enough...I will post on how it went when I get home the following Saturday ok.
Oh and to MrsPiggy...yes I am flying from Florida to San Diego with a stopover in Atlanta. Hopefully the connecting flights terminal wont be too far away or else I will simply ask for golf cart assistance.
i am 6 days post op with dr almanza. i was also worried and in you position. i must say it was nothing to really worry about. the doctor did an amazing job! the worst is the gas but it passes. i had a long flight home with a layover that was delayed 2 extra hours. if you call they will have a wheelchair waiting for you. if you check all your bags you might not need it. i made the mistake of not checking my bags and had to carry them on and off the plain. it was fustrating! my advice is check in your bags! walking will do you good. you are in great hands in mexico with DR. ALMANZA. good luck!
