    Default Gout

My son is 4 weeks out and has horrible gout. I mean he is crying, trying to walk on crutches when he's up. He called his doctor and the doc. admits that gout is one of the side effects and that he can't take any medicine except hydrocodone for the pain.(liquid). Have any of you got any suggestions to help him???? Thanks.

I guess I don't know too much about gout because I thought it would be better after surgery. I thought beer and beef were the things that were bad if you had gout or is it all protein meats ? ... As I type this I'm thinking I really don't know what I'm talking about but interested in finding out.

go to earthclinic.com and type in gout. you will have to scroll down past the ads but will see gout remedies. the highest rated remedy is apple cider vinegar but there are others. they want you to use organic ACV with 'mother'. the brand they suggest is Braggs. the next rated remedy is cherry juice or cherries. its not immediate but the swear by it.also lots of water bc dehydration can aggravate it. hope something helps!

Not sure where you live but here in Utah you can buy concentrated tart cherry juice. You just stir 1 or 2 tablespoons into water or juice, hot or cold, and drink every day. Can't tell you why it works but it does!!! My son has used it and so have I. Might take a week or so to feel the difference but it's an inexpensive and non-RX thing that you can take without worry!

Steroids make the pain go away almost immediately, but you know how those steroids can make you feel Indocin is an old school drug that really works, but it's harsh for your stomach; so be careful. Someone on this site just posted about having gout, msvetrn is her name. Good luck and I know how painful it can be as I had it twice.

My mother in law had gout and used the tart cherry juice as well. I bought it concentrated at a health food store, you only need about 2 oz reconstituted in the am and pm. Helped her a lot.

cherry juice, and cherry tablets, and you can get it in a pill form, also he can go to the dr. and request a shot for the gout, he should not be suffering with this, I have gout but the shot works immediatly!!! and they also have pills for it, I take colcrys and alinaproul 300 mg (not spelling corectly) the problem with gout is the protien that we must take in. so be sure as he looses his weight that he adjuusts the protein intake, I am now at 60 mg a day I do 15 at each meal. this will really help with this problem, this is such a painful disease. I wish him luck.

Gout is a concentration of lactic acid and toxins in the toe joint, so your son needs to do some internal cleansing to wash that out. I whole-heartedly agree with the ORGANIC apple cider vinegar (Google to see how many medicinal uses it has, including promoting weight loss) and the black cherry juice. Alos lots of water. Good luck!

the usual medications are probably too harsh for a newly sleeved stomach -- the alternatives sound good.

I thought I had acquired gout, also after my sleeve surgery but as it turns out, I have a Vit B deficiency - NOT gout. Both big toes are infected! VERY painful.
