Tonight I had mashed potatoes a week after my surgery. I think I might have ate too much! I feel like I have to throw up, but it won't happen unless I assist myself. Will this cause my staples to pop?

Don't force yourself to throw up. You could cause an injury. You're only a week out. Probably should stick to liquids for another week before starting puréed. Then only a couple teaspoons to start. I'm sure you ate too much but you know now you won't do it again! Those potatoes will slowly ease their way down and you'll feel better. Just hang in there....

One more thing, how long does it take to travel through the system?
Also not to sound gross, but if I did not make a bowel movement
For today is that cause for concern?

The BM took 6 days for me and I did not pass gas for 4. You could try a gentle laxative or M.O.M. and some Prune juice to start you out. Constipation can also be a partner for a while.... Good Luck!
