Default 3 days post op and feel...normal???

I was sleeved Friday and it is Monday. I feel normal (except for very bloated in the tummy!). I feel like I could have gone to work today. I'm about to go play basketball with my boys (without all the jumping and crazy stuff). Is this crazy or am I about to hit a rough patch? Will I lose this energy or start hurting somewhere? I feel ridiculous just laying around. Any thoughts?

Hello!!! Congradulations! I personally wouldnt recommend the basketball idea, but if your doc says it cool, then so be it. Take it easy, relax and dont strain. You can hurt yourself internally! you should rest for a couple of weeks! You had most of your stomach slurped out through a straw and the rest stapled closed! :0) I walked a lot!!! A LOT!!! Low impact everyday a little more and more, but no funny stuff. Concentrate on drinking your water and shakes! Good luck and you'll do great!!!

Yup, sounds pretty close to normal if you've been getting enough liquids and enough protein. But I agree with Leo; don't push yourself too far or too hard for a couple more weeks yet. When I was four days past surgery, I had to get out of the house, so my husband took me and the dogs to the dog park. I couldn't bend over and pick up the tennis ball over and over again as the dogs wanted me to do, but I enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine (even tho' it was cold). By week 3, I was riding the recumbent bike at the gym and doing some bicep exercises (but no core abdominal exercises for 6 weeks). Take it easy on yourself. Walk or ride a stationary bike...that will be enough for now.

I thought twice about the basketball once I got out there and saw how aggressive they were being! I opted to take the dog for a walk. I just keep waiting for something bad to happen (not constantly thinking about it, but just wondering why it's been so smooth so far). I think I will try to change my attitude and just be very grateful that I am back into the swing of things so quickly. I missed my family while in the hospital and so happy to be back home with them and have the energy to be me again!

I noticed that anything that excessively moved my stomach, like fast walking (or basketball) was uncomfortable early on. As others have said, I would take it easy.

I went back to work 4 days after surgery and I was fine (although tired), so there isn't anything "wrong", but listen to your body. Stressing it out too much might make you take longer to heal than you would want.

All was good until I accidently took my old diuretic last night. Oops! Meant to take my "happy pill". Was up all night getting rid of all the fluid I had worked so hard to get in me. That caused panic, therefore, no sleep. Mistake. Just talked to the doctor and he said one dose shouldn't be a problem as long as I feel okay and can still get all my liquids (back) in! So, I cancelled movie plans with my kids to stay home and work on drinking. Ughhh... But, still feel fine and no basketball just yet!
