    Default Vitamins and hcg questions

I have been curious and thinking the past few days if it would be too extreme to consider taking hcg while on the post op liquids?
I plan on calling my nutritionist this week and asking just to see what they say since I was actually considering trying hcg about 5 months ago.
Just wondering if anyone has done this perhaps or has some insight on it.
I understand that hcg just tricks your body into thinking you're pregnant therefore picking up the pace on your metabolism and of course anyone only consuming 500 calories a day is going to shed weight.

On another note, has anyone used the Bariatric Advantage brand of supplements and other products?
I have been really looking around for options on vitamins and proteins.
It seems like I can't find a legit product in hardly anything smaller than a tub.
My luck I would buy a $70 tub of protein and not be able to stomache it after surgery.

I've been looking at GNC's 100% whey protein, it seems to be pretty pure. Anyone use this product?

I use the GNC Pro Performance Whey protein in Vanilla and Chocolate and I like it a lot I make different recipes with them.
You can do lot of things specially with the vanilla one. I also discovered Nectar protein shakes and I love them. If you like fruity flavors
I used before the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate Chewy Bites in caramel and chocolate and they were really good

Thanks Liliana! I was looking at the Bariatric Advantage site today because its who my surgeon recommends and I noticed they have lots of chews. Nice to hear they're not so bad... I'm not a fan of chewy supplements. Only one I thought I would ever consider being the fish oil, they say it really cuts out the fishy burping.

The Bariatric Advantage chews are very good! I would highly recommend them. I also enjoy their KetogenX Vegetable Soup protein soup. Smells good and taste very good.

I'm not completely sure what the calcium citrate is benefitting, I need to read up. My surgeon didn't mention the chews.

I'm not against hcg but it would be a waste on the liquid diet. Maybe even not safe, we lose fast enough at first to almost be weak and tired if we are not careful. I might reconsider it after a year if you are stalled. But I find if we keep at it, it comes off fast enough. If you decide to go ahead I have to admit I'm curious and would like to know what happens. I will say that when I did hcg I didn't find it worked any better than the LC induction diet.

Yea I would be curious to know if any long time sleevers has tried anything like this to break stalls or speed back up weight loss when you get to that dreaded true body plateau...

i haven't done the HCG myself, but from what i understand about it, dana's advise is pretty spot on. that's something i'd inquire with my doc about before i did it.

regarding bariatric advantage products, i think they all taste pretty bad except for the protein elixers...you can add them to water (similar to crystal light) for a 10 g. refresher. otherwise, all of their supplements and protein powders tasted awful to me. the only protein powder i've been able to stomache consistently is the Designer Whey Chocolate mixed with skim milk. it's low on the protein scale at about 18g a serving (not including the protein that's in the milk), but it's far less sweet than other products, and seems to taste less like artificial sweetners (which seem to be what makes me gag)...i've also added it to vanilla yogurt, and that's kinda yummy. what i found when trying to find a powder i liked is to look for SMALL samples of as many as you can before shelling out a chunk of change for a large quantity of anything...OR, buy your products from a store that will accept returns if you don't like the taste (you can't imagine how many tubs of protein i returned before i found something i liked!)

Believe me, you will lose so quickly in the beginning that you won't need any boosters. I wonder about taking it during a stall, though, hmmmm.

About the protein, all I have ever tried is Unjury products because they were recommended to me, and I love their Chocolate Splendor, Vanilla, and Strawberry products. I had gotten their Unflavored and Chicken Soup flavors and they both made me gag, but their return policy is great and I exchanged the ones I didn't like for more of the stuff I do like, no problem.

When you buy vitamins, check out the store/site's return policy. I had bought some vitamins pre-op that I liked but post-op could not stand them. Thankfully, dietdirect.com has a wonderful return policy. Otherwise, I would have wasted money.

i take the chewable 'complete post bariatric' vitamins.. it's citrus flavor and doesn't bother me at all. the only complaint will be that you have to chew 4 of those suckers to fulfill your daily intake... the HCG. i have a bottle in my fridge. I started to take them in the beginning but as i realized that i was dropping WAY TOO FAST and my skin was sagging... i stopped taking and started to just go with the flow... over 50 lbs lost, and no sag nor exercise. thank GOD~ did you know that they 'filter' pregnant women's urine to make those HCG? if it's not prego women's pee i heard it wasn't worth a dam*

Thanks everyone on the advice, I've looked quite a few places aside from online for the Unjury products but can seem to find them yet. I'm going to go on a scavenger hunt for some of the things I need today... perhaps I will come across some.
