    Default HELP, I'm a SCALE-A-HOLIC!!!

How do you all stay OFF the scale??? I have to get on every morning and see what I weigh and it goes up a pound down a pound, and then sometimes in the middle...I think it is making me lose sight of my sleeve and why I had it to begin with. I find myself eating things I shouldn't and coming very close to the don't give a care attitude I had before my surgery. How can I stop? If I don't weigh then it bugs me all day long. Therapy??? Any advice is welcomed. Hope everyone is doing great out there....some folks are not lucky enough to get the sleeve done so I know how blessed I truly am.

You are a lot further out then I am, but I certainly struggled with that right after surgery. I make my husband hide it during the week, and then he pulls it out one time per week for me to weigh. If you don't have someone at home who can do it, then I would give the scale to someone who wants to help you. Either go to that person's house once a week and weigh or have them bring it to you. Either way, you don't have access to the scale more than once a week. Just a thought that has helped me. It's not that I am not thinking about it, but at least I am not obsessing on the scale every moment during the day. I know that I would if it was still in my bathroom where it has always been. Good luck.

I only weigh once a day first thing in the morning after the bathroom break. I have to live with whatever the scale says for that day. It works for me.

I am the same way. I weigh myself every morning and then i get upset. It goes up and down. I just wish it would stay down. Going back to talk to my doctor not sure why i am at a stand still. Its too early for this.

I hate it but I have become a slave to the scales and I get on and get off and get on again. Its nuts. I do not know how to just get rid if them and just let it go.

You are doing so great! Get rid of it and weigh at the doctors office. I am only almost 5 weeks out and I have already gone for a week with no weight loss. I think you are doing awesome. When I have the head hunger and get frustrated, I try on fat clothes that I still have or take my measurements. It really opens your eyes to how far you have come and even if the scale isn't moving, your body is getting healthy.

I do the same thing, then if I pass by that potty again, I feel the need to jump on again to "see" if anything moved! I feel stupid!!! Deep down I know that if I get on, it's going to be more and then it will upset me. I'm trying to walk at the mall with my BFF and I thing I'm going down again...time will tell...but I need to lock that bathroom up and by pass the scales I think, but I have a fear of it going up without my knowing it....YIKES!!! LOL

I'm thinking of locking the guest bath, where the scales are....they are doctors scales and painfully accurate, it makes me wonder all the time how much do I weigh now??? And I know in my heart of hearts that I'm going to weigh more so it's just silly....

Thank you, I am due for my check up in April, I'm petrified that I won't be as small as I should be or what the doc thinks I should be. So the scale thing is worse now. Good suggestions about the clothes for motivation. I saved one pair of fat jeans.

You are allowing the scale to control your life like the food use to. Big time eating disorder. I think Therapy might be a good idea.

    Smile Re: HELP, I'm a SCALE-A-HOLIC!!!

I find the scales give me an indication of how things are going, and do weigh myself daily. If my weight is up I look to find the reasons why, such as fluidy swollen ankles, or if I'm taking my iron supplements, maybe it's simply that I haven't "been" for a few days... Sometimes, too, it's good to analyse things and take a critical look at whether or not you've been eating as you should. I've recently returned to work after having been on school holidays for 5 weeks. Even though I had the opportunity to exercise more than when I'm working, my weight wasn't really happening for me, and I had plateaued. However, this week decided to try being a bit more diligent with my eating, and this morning found that I had dropped from 96.4kg yesterday, to 92.2kg this morning....needless to say, I wasted no time recording the breakthrough on that little ticker thingy that you see below everyone's posts!
I think the drop in my case was not only to the fact that I have gotten back on track with the eating, but also that I haven't taken any iron supplement since Wednesday, after having had a whinge to the GP about my lack of progress, and have, in fact, "been"....making up for lost time, even!
