...new questions pop into my head everyday and would rather talk to 'real' people who have had or are going to be going through this journey as well.

I am in Lebanon. I will have the band to sleeve conversion on aug 9 th. Getting apprehensive...keep thinking do I really want to cut up a perfectly good stomach? But then I think about how unhealthy being overweight is...it is not an easy decision especially when you have already had one surgery fail

I'm in Cincinnati, had my sleeve done on 06/22/2011 at Mercy Fairfield hospital. My surgeon was great as well as my recovery. I am nearly 45 pounds down and tomorrow will be my 6th week.

Hi Gabby and Shannon! Yes, I'm here close to both of you. Had my surgery 8 wks ago and am down 47 pounds. Haven't had any complications (thankyou Jesus!) and am doing very well. Had my sx at Mercy Fairfield. They have a Bariatric center there called Healthy Weight Solutions. My surgeon is Dr. Joe Northup and he did a great job on me! I have no regrets. I needed an intervention like this otherwise I would have kept gaining weight with my bad habits and food as my bff. My stomach is about 6 oz and I drink lots of fluids, eat alot of fruits and veggies but when I eat meat or starches they fill up my stomach quick. I eat alot of soups (homemade) bc processed foods are so packed with sodium. Just remember, the first week after sx will be your toughest. After that first week, (providing you have no complications) you will start feeling really good. It's so good to see some folks from Cinti!

Hi all, I'm having surgery by Dr. Curry on 10/11/11 at Jewish Hopsital in Cincy. I'm terrified and wondering if I'm doing the right thing....I see that the last post from anyone was over a month agao. How about some updates - how are you doing? what do you think about your outcome so far? are you pleased with Dr. C? I'm a nervous wreck. I found out 10 months ago I have an aggressive form of kidney disease and this is my last ditch effort to get the weight off and post-pone kidney transplant as long as possible. I'm not telling hardly anyone about my surgery as I don't want people giving me the up/down everytime they see me. I'd rather they just are mezmerized by my weightloss.

I'm here in Ohio and scheduled with Dr. Curry on Oct. 11th at Jewish Hospital. I'm a nervous wreck over the surgery. I have stage 4 kidney disease and I'm soooooo worried about dehydrating (very dangerous to do with CKD). I've been assured by his staff it will be ok but I've had to explain to them what my type of kidney disease is (it's rare). I've been a little frustrated with communication with the nutritionist and insurance staff - any input about good/bad experiences?
