Default not going to Mexico bitter sweet!

I had to cancel my surgery. I went to GYN and he thinks I have fibroids, as well as a hernia. I been having female problems and had to go to the Dr. He wants me to have a cat scan next week. He told me I can take meds to try and shrink the fibroid but they may come back. A hysterectomy was mentioned but we're trying other options first. I told him about surgery in Mexico and he was very positive, but asked why wouldn't I go through my insura nce(that I just got jan 1st) I told him I didn't think they would pay for it with me just getting coverage. Well he had his billing personel to check and. They do cover.I have a out of pocket max of 3000. Which I will meet soon with all this going on and a $750 deductible. I do have the 6 month supervised diet to do but with me having to take the meds for fibroids for 4 months. Then I may as well just get the ball rolling. I have an appointment with jacksonville bariatrics on Tuesday. I'm a little disappointed that I can't have surgery next month but I won't give up.

Like Lea said, all things happen for a reason. I too had to wait to get mine done in March due to finances etc, plus had cardiac scare that I thought was going to make me have to cancel this - still worries me a little - but I am determined to do this. So in meantime stay healthy, do all that you can to stay well and prepare for this surgery. All the best.

Losing weight could possibly help you. Also, if you have the sleeve first, before the hysterectomy, then you can have a tummy tuck with lip when they do your hysterectomy, and you won't have to pay for the OR or the anesthesia, since the insurance is already covering this for the HYS. If you can live w/ the fibroids until after your sleeve, I think you'd be wise to have your sleeve first.
(Just a thought. I have endometriosis, and they recommended a total HYS for me about 5 years ago. I refused, have now had a sleeve. When my weight loss is done, I'm going to schedule the HYS and the tummy tuck. That's my plan, and I'm sticking to it.)
    Good Luck

    Hi Crystal : )
I had to wait 6 months with the insurance that i have. Plus with all the Dr's i had to get a clearance from It took about 6 months. loll I have a hernia that the surgeon will take care of on my surgery date. Plus all the health issue's that i didn't know i had!!! loll the time will pass quickly. I go in on the 8th to set my surgery date.
Praise God : ) for the warp time.
Thank God you found out about your insurance when you did!!! thats a positive. I pray that your medication for your fibroids will work quickly so that you can concentrate on getting your weight loss surgery soon...

6 months will go so quickly and not having to fork out almost $6 is an added bonus. .

Michelle my surgery with Dr.Kelly would have been 6000 and about 500 flight. So I'm greatful. As far as having the sleeve first i'd rather not. I'm having some bad female problems and it will be a while before I even need a tummy tuck and lipo. Thank u all!

~ doesn't think she'll ever reach her original weight, no matter HOW hard she tries. Hell, let's face it, 8lb 10oz is not very realistic is it?

A few years ago, I had a hysterectomy for fibroids also. One of the best things I ever did. My gyn doc tried several meds, thermal ablation. Nothing shrunk the fibroids. I still had problems and became severely anemic. Take care of yourself. The sleeve will be covered, that's great news! I agree that everything happens for a reason, too. It will all work out.
