Hi!!! I'm 61 yrs. old and have been living in San Antonio, Texas for 35 yrs. now. I am originally from Maine. I've tried many diets only to gain my weight back and sometimes more. When my 3 babies came, that's when I picked up my weight. I successfully lost 97 lbs. 2 yrs. ago from L.A. Weightloss, but then they stopped their centers due to the cost of things going up. Then my weight crept up on me, and now I've gained 80 lbs. back. Last November 30, 2010 I had Dystolic Heart Failure. It made me realize that I need help to get my weight back down to a healthy lifestyle. I am trying to save $15,000, so I can have the "Sleeve" to save my life. Please pray for me to be able to accomplish this. I won't have any insurance until I turn 64 yrs. old. I don't think I can wait that long. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to tell me. I welcome you with open arms. I am going to try to apply for some credit for now. My credit is fair but not too good; because, my husband was unemployed for 5 months and then got total disability last year. I want to do the surgery now, but due to this, I may have to wait for anothor 7 mos. at least. In the mean time I will keep you posted and look forward to reading your posts. Take care...<3

If you are ok with surgery in Mexico, I paid $8999 and that was my total cost. They actually pick you up in San Antonio and take you across the border to Piedras Negras MX. My surgeon's name was Dr. Alvarez and he is actually a member of this site as well. I know there are a lot of great surgeons but I had an amazing experience with Dr. A. I always would recommend that people do their research and pick the best option for themself but I can tell you that Dr. A is pretty wonderful. Tam

I believe there are also places where you can get a medical loan, although I have no idea what the interest rates are. If you truly believe you'll have the money together in 7 months time, you could get a short term loan and pay it off in 7 months, when you're halfway to your weight goal! And I know there are many others here who will echo what Tammy said about Dr. Alvarez and her Mexico experience. Best wishes to you, whatever you decide.

Thank you Tammy and Diane for your suggestions. My husband has the misconception that it's dangerous right now everywhere in Mexico, so he won't agree to it. I wish I could. I am looking into surgery loans. LOL

My husband and I are pastors and two people from our church have been to Mexico to have their sleeve. I go to have mine in two weeks. One of the ladies is a nurse in Fort Worth and she said the care there was phenominal. I'm not worried at all after hearing their stories! Hope you are able to do this!
