Until you are able to get all of your protein in, take BIOTIN. It helps strengthen, shine and grow your hair!

[QUOTE=jewel;91705]so for my Biotin users.. how many mg do you take?
I just talked to the doc and got the green light for protein shakes for a week. But they are totally opposed to me drinking my calories
From now on, I sprinkle everything I eat with parmesan cheese (2 tsp = 2g protein) and will be adding a scoop of any whey to my greek yogurt at lunch time (14g from the yogurt and 17g from the AnyWhey). Sometimes I just need people to give me ideas on what to put in my mouth..
Lunch today? 1/2 an apple dipped in PB2 paste (fake peanut butter-18 g protein).. mmm!

Sometimes I love having a dietician a phone call away.

I use the unflavored protein powder Unjury to sprinkle on my foods. I eat pure protein bars, you can usually get them for $1 each or a case at Sam's or Costco. Skim evaporated milk has 19grm of protein in a cup. You can also try the Fage greek yogurt has 12g. I never ate oatmeal, and I now love it. Make it really "soupy" with skim milk and boil it with a cinnamon stick for flavor. I hope this helps.

Wow, Jewel, you have a teeny tiny sleevie! Some meals I can eat more volume, and others I can barely eat at all. I had a 25g protein drink for breakfast, and had a Wendy's small chili for lunch today. I couldn't get half of the chili in, and I'm as full as a tick right now!

Good luck! I hope your hair loss slows down! I've been taking Biotin since day one, and I think it's helped. I have a lot of hair, and I "shed" constantly. I haven't noticed any big difference.

I think today I will eat 20 grams of Protein. small isopure, and maybe a cup of yoghurt. But then again I hate that protein powder! I would rather shave my head!

This is what my doctor required. The first day (before surgery) I thought it was fine, maybe even good. The problem is the same stinking flavor everyday. After a while I stopped eating/drinking all together, and then when I really needed something I would gulp it down to avoid the flavor.

But down I can't gulp anything. And at the rate I drink it feels like cherishing the flavor for 2 hours. Sometimes I still drink it. But my hunger is not terrible, and I am allowed to drink soup broth with I like. My protein is not what it should be. But I am dropping pounds like crazy.

I saw my hairdresser and she reminded me that we lose, on average, 160 hairs per day without anything being out of kilter. She suggest I count the hairs the next time I think I've lost a whole bunch and I'll be shocked that it's really not as much as it seems. Hope this helps. Also, I use Unjury unflavoured protein with Crystal Light and have two drinks per day - they're 20 g of protein each with ZERO calories!! With how little you're taking in though, a few calories in a protein shake won't hurt you. All the best in your journey.
Jewel - I was wrong on the calories. The unflavoured has 80 calories and the strawberry sorbet (tastes like kool-aid) has 100 calories. Just wanted to clarify.

This has some really good suggestions for high protein foods: http://www.northwestobesitysurgery.c...ctomy-diet.pdf

If I wasn't drinking my calories and protein I would surely be dead by now...I too had a upper gi and 2nd swallow test to see if I had a stricture or other problem, all ok just a teeny tiny tummy...I doubt I have ever gotten a 1/4 of a cup of anything down...my almost 1/2 a sandwich is the most I have eaten and it was the only thing I ate that day....I just got the premier vanilla protein shakes from costco and am sooo glad for all the recommendations on here, they are 30 grams of protein a shake and may just save me....I'm supposed to be hitting 60 grams a day and figure I can surely drink 2 of those...I can drink way more than I can even think about eating...so anything else I get down is just bonus protein...

Check out loseit.com. They've got a great tracker that's also an app for iPhone. Your journey is going to go great. You just have to figure out how everything goes together. I think we're all still doing that.

I cant drink the shakes at all, and there is no way I can choke down a protein bar - its like a rock if I manage to chew and swallow it, but these things are WONDERFUL. They are like vanilla sugar wafer cookies (or maybe kitkats?), very light and airy - with 14g protein. They sell them individually at walmart so you can try them, and come in peanut butter and chocolate too.

I LOVE my pb2. I always loved peanut butter, this gives me everything I want without all of the fat. I like making a protein shake with some milk, a scoop of protein powder, 2 tbsp of the pb2 w cocoa and a half a banana. yum!!

You'll have to let me know what you do with it - i'm always looking for new ideas!

Isopure, NON=FLAVORED...........you can sprinkle it in and on everything, including salads, cooked foods, in sandwiches.. looks like parmesan cheese from the green can, but has no flavor.............indulge! it's not too bad.

you can get it at the vitamin shoppe online, and shipping is free

helped me........my hair is actually growing longer now than ever.

    good luck!

I have decided that you all are just the best bunch of people ever. Thanks you so much for all the suggestions, for sharing your thoughts and for all of the reassurance! At least I know now, that if I go bald... I won't be going alone.lol
I ran out and bought some Biotin, I'm ordering some of those vanilla wafers (thank you Judie!), I'm downloading a new iphone app and am definitely checking out the other websites and products suggested!
Amanda.. I tried those shakes and had a really hard time getting past the grit at the end.. but I love that they're less sweet than others. Did I just get a bad batch or are yours a bit gritty too?
I found a Met RX protein bar today too - it has 30g protein! I'm going to try it tomorrow and see how much of it I can get in.
    Wish me luck!
