I found that the protein drink I buy at Costco, (Premier Chocolate Shake / 11 ozs - 30 grams of Protein per container,). Prior to surgery we had a tasting at our support group and I did not like this drink. Now I love it!
I take one a day to work and split between my mid-morning snack and late afternoon. Also I've found anything I buy at Costco and don't like, they take back and credit with no explanation needed.

Try whey protein fruit punch flavored shots at walmart... they are in a test tube looking vial... you can mix them with crystal light or sugar free koolaid.... 24 g protein much better than shakes

Be careful with the protein shots. According to my doctor, even though it says 24g of protein, it's not all whey, and the amount of actual protein you are getting is only something like 5g. I was told to return it.

the ice cubes and added fat free plain yogurt is key. the skim milk add, is key. 2 sweetener packs is key. a 1/2 cup of strawberries, blueberries, etc is key.... buying a cheap blender is key... as a bariatric patient you can use it forever... my protein shakes are the most delicious part of my day...

I agree I have been trying to address my food addiction along with getting the surgery. One week from today! For food addicts it's best to avoid sugar so I have been using 1/2 cup almond milk mixed with light soymilk or just water. When you are using a low carb protein drink mixture it will cut down your sugar since skim milk has 12g of sugar per cup. The almond milk has no sugar and the unsweetened light soy milk is usually 7 grams.

You can also take the IsoPure flavored drinks and use them as the cold water part of making sugar-free jello. Yummy protein jello......I still do this even though I am 3 months out.

MsDarlenet, I did the same thing! It makes the sugar free jello taste better too! But now, I haven't had any jello since my clear liquids week...maybe I should make some more to use up those fruit flavored protein drinks!

Never was able to hold down the protein shakes, just made me feel awful no matter how i hid it I could still taste it. I ended up giving all of my protein shakes to my dietician and went with eggs. I have one egg each morning. My hair has suffered I got to say, but other than that I am ok there are some good idea's here though wish I had had them when I was first out of surgery.

Try the products from HMR (Health Management Resources -- a company started by bariatric doctors). They have shake powder, soup, cereal, bars, that are all designed for protein sparing fasts such as an Optifast fast. However HMR products are a MILLION times tastier than Optifast. The "120" shakes are pretty close to a real ice cream based milkshake. They also have protein bars that are quite tasty. The HMR products aren't available in stores. Search "Health Management Resources" on the internet and you'll find a number of companies that sell the HMR line and mail it to you.

I just tried the Strawberry Sorbet protein drink from Unjury, and it is awesome!! I love it. You mix it with water and a crystal light lemonade packet, and I put it in the freezer for a little bit and I can drink those all day. First protein drink I can actually stomach, because I dont like the milky protien drinks or shakes they are all to thick for me and I just can't get them down good.
