HI! Its been a while since I posted. I have just returned from an amazing holiday/trek expedition in Ethiopia. I could not have done this without having lost all the weight I have lost. I stayed the same weight over the holiday, even with all the trekking.
I have wanted to have a challenge and boy was this a challenge. I was completely out of my comfort zone, a porta loo the porters carried and no shower facilities, just body washing with wet wipes for a week. We started the holiday with some touring of Adidas Ababa, Laleibella and Gandor. We then spent a week trekking in the Simien Mountains. We did many km and some very steep climbs and which led to the final ascent of Rash Dashen which is 4570m ( a very high altitude). I managed to get to 4500, the last 70m was a steep climb and as I am afraid of heights I did not do it. I am however very pleased with what I have achieved and felt really good the whole time. I am now home and feeling so refreshed and 'human' again. I can highly recommend Ethiopia as a tourist place, the people are very friendly and it was interesting seeing how people live the the isolated villages. As we trekked up the steep hills with poles ad panting and rest stops, the children would rush past us barefoot or in jelly shoes and laugh at us struggling along. They have to trek up and down deep gorges just to get to school. The food that our chef cooked for us everyday was excellent and i lived on vegetables, eggs and protein bars. I had fish when I was in the larger towns, after our hike.
It is now back to my normal routine and the gym.
