Pam, the 35-calorie/slice bread I buy at Aldi's is the "Fit & Active" brand.

Non-sleeve me again here. (Can you tell it's the dead of winter and I'm just knocking around the 'net?)

You may like what is sometimes referred to as one-minute bread. Individual-serving recipes can be found by searching online. Some recipes include the addition of oil and artificial sweetener, but I don't add these two ingredients. For expediency, I mix the dry ingredients in bulk and store them in a canister. To make, I put an egg and spoonful of water into a ramekin and add 3 rounded tablespoons of the dry mix, beat with a fork to blend and microwave for 90 seconds. After cooling for a minute, I slice in half and toast. We haven't had (nor missed having) any kind of bread in the house for about a year now. This muffin-like bread is so satisfying that even I, with my original, full-size, factory-installed stomach, may sometimes eat only half of one. It tastes good, but doesn't elicit that insulin/appetite response that makes one want to keep eating beyond satisfaction, which I find nothing short of miraculous. As far as total carbs/net carbs, it's tough to calculate since there are more fiber grams than carb grams, but here are the MyFitnessPal numbers fot the recipe I use:

    Total carbs 3.5g, dietary fiber 9.4g, fat 17.4g, protein 12g, calories 231.

Here's my bulk recipe: 1 cup grated parmesan, 1-1/2 cup almond meal (flour), 1 cup golden flax, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt.

Oh, yeah, and it's also nutritious, whereas regular bread is often little more than just processed carbs.

Just my 2 cents. You do you! And best to you!

I've been buying Nature's Own Life 2X Double Fiber Wheat. My whole family eats it. (Actually, my whole family is doing low carb, because that's how I cook now.) Each slice is 50 calories, 3 grams of protein, and 7 net carbs. (After subtracting out the fiber.) I only have a sandwich once or twice a week, and cut the crust off, otherwise I'd get too full.

Funny you you should mention this bread because I have a loaf that we're giving to the dogs for treats! I tried a piece and didn't like it. Same for the Sara Lee bread that Ann mentioned.

I guess I'm done with bread for awhile. Yesterday at work someone brought breakfast tacos and donuts. I ate the innerds from a taco then took one bite off the tortilla for old times sake then spit it out! It just didn't do it for me like before.

ive been trying to follow a ketogenic diet for the past week, which is low carb (under 20 net grams), moderate protein and high fat...really high fat, like 70% of our calories, high. It's easier now to stay under 20 carbs than it is to eat all that fat! Weird. But it does seem to have helped with cravings and hunger. Which, btw, the hunger had returned full force!

So I made that minute bread recipe. Looked better than it tasted, and it looked like a blob. I was about to throw it away, but Bill ate it to not waste.

After the root canal I am just eating soups and blending smoothies, calories have dropped to about 800 again and dropped three pounds initially but I am stalled. I'm hoping I can up calories this week, I just ate a tablespoon of almond butter to up calories.
