    Default I知 baaaack

It痴 been a while. Had sleeve revised to bypass 8/18 due to severe reflux causing damage to esophagus and stomach. Feeling so much better now!! Approved for skin removal surgery and reduction 6/26!!!! Any advice??? Wonder how it compares to c-section?
    Thanks all!

At support group anytime a plastic surgeon comes to talk (probably 3 different ones over the years) they say they want you at goal weight for a year before having any skin removal surgery. I was scared watching their slides, for the tummy tuck you're sliced hip to hip. I never did it, but my saggy skin isn't that bad. It isn't noticeable under clothes.

So glad you're doing well! It sounds like anyone with reflux should consider the bypass rather than the sleeve. Welcome back!

I have considered the idea of getting bypass to combat my severe reflux. Did you lose more weight when you got the bypass? I do not want to lose more and am afraid of what may happen if I went that route. I haven't heard of any other fixes though. I'm happy for you that this has been successful in helping you feel better. Good luck with your skin surgery.

Do you know what type of bypass was done? Apparently Roux en Y would be the one for reflux.

I should've had bypass to begin with. dont' feel that original MD made that clear. I had bad reflux before sleeve! Sleeve was 12/14 and reflux got really bad (chest pain) 2018 so I had no choice.

The first step would be to get an endoscopy to know if you have a hiatal hernia or not.
From what my surgeon said (the good one in Taipei) if you have only reflux and no hernia, only a bypass will work.

If you have a big hiatal hernia (sup to 3 cm, mine is 4) then you can have a repair of the hiatus and hernia. This is a complicated surgery and my last surgeon (in Paris) chickened out.
One of the name for the repair is Hill gastropexy, or Hill repair, they could use some mesh also during the repair if the hiatus is too big, depending on the damages.
It is more technically challenging than a bypass. And not many surgeons do it.

Also, there is several types of bypass, depending on the length of intestine they take off non absorbtion could be increased or decreased.

would've waited but back pain is terrible, need breast reduction/lift ASAP. PT and Chiro didn't help. Doing tummy at same time.

Yes, with severe reflux where there is no hernia its general a "valve" issue (LES). HH can also be repaired with the Nissen fundoplication, not sure if there is a hernia size limit for that repair, but its easier than the Hill procedure and more common. I think it was Tamara2 who had a ton of complications post op from surgery in Mexico. Her surgeon actually CUT THROUGH her Nissen wrap when doing the sleeve and caused her a ton of very serious problems. (stroke, gtube, etc) Kinda went off-topic there, but agree that endoscopy is crucial to confirm the presence of a hernia.

FYI : It's impossible to do a Nissen after a sleeve. The part of the stomach supposed to be used for that surgery is gone. That's why the Hill gastropexy is the only option left.

Wow. Is your reflux completely gone since you got the bypass?
