    Default Band to sleeve

    Hello
I'm new here looking for some friends and advice from you lovely people. I've had a band for 6 years lost total of five stone it slipped I had to have it emptied and I gained a stone quite fast I was definitely more hungry

then had a refill this was two years ago and couldn't lose any of the gained wait. Then I became more hungry and needed more food to satisfy that hunger and eventually after a while I have gained another two stone
I went back for another fill as I thought I needed more restriction and during the barium it was noticed that my ousopeogus had a pouch so my surgeon said I needed to have it emptied straight way and the band should be removed
I had an appointment last week and I have been offered a sleeve revision when the band is removed Has this happened to anyone else here ? And can I expect good results after a failed band.? Revised to a sleeve.

    Feeling hopeful

I am on Day 7 Post Op of a revision from band to sleeve. I don't regret the decision. You are welcome to ask me any questions and I will answer the best I can. I was in the hospital 2 and 1/2 days. I had no complications. I really haven't had any complications since the surgery, the only issue I have..and probably the worst to have is getting enough protein and liquid in. It is a serious struggle. I am supposed to get 70-90 grams of protein and I might get 30. I probably get 1/2 of the liquids in that I should. I am going to the Dr. to have a drain tube removed tomorrow. I am dreading that. Hopefully I will get back on track with my protein and liquids.

There are several people on this site who had band issues and had a revision to sleeve. They all seem to be doing well from what I have seen. Good luck!

My sister got the band and it didn't help her with her weight loss goals. I'm trying to get her to consider the sleeve. Meanwhile, I've had the sleeve and don't regret it, I highly recommend it. Good luck on your decision and this forum is full of nice, kind, and knowledgeable people. Welcome!

Hi thank you for your reply
I'm glad you're doing well. I had the band five years ago but it's gone wrong I am now waiting to hear if I can definitely have a revision to sleev , I should hear by the end of the month fingers crossed its looking hopeful anyway
I was told it may be done in one go depending on scar tissue as if there's a lot it may be best to have a second surgery. I'm hoping one will be enough. I'm not nervous of the surgery I'm nervous of people asking questions as I've decided to only tell family , so that could be tricky I guess. So are you still on liquid diet atm. It must be difficult if you're thirsty not to be able to drink quickly too satisfy your thirst

Hi thank you for the reply
the band worked ok for me for a while I had no problems
then it went wrong eouspheogus pouch dilation and I became more hungry I went to have a fill as I thought it had stopped working and that's when the pouch was discovered so it had been like it a while
I've gained three and half stone of the five that I lost very daunting indeed. Due to it going wrong I've had to have it emptied and they have offered me a revision I'll know for sure end of the month. How are you managing with your portion sizes did you have it done a while ago ?

I have the band and are doing the revision on May 15th. I have had the band for 14 yrs. Lost weight gain it back. Do you have to stay in the hospital longer with the revision? What is the drain for?
