Nothing wrong with wondering how your life will change afterward! You have to prepare for all aspects of the change. You will find your tastes change after surgery. Food is somewhat enjoyable, but it...
Congrats on your sleeve! I had the same trouble getting fluids in. Try Sipping G2 or just ice chips. Also a sugar free sno cone or shaved ice, even without any syrup went down really easily. Not sure...
I use mynetdiary and I know a lot of people use myfitnesspal. I started with the free version and then bought the upgrade for a small fee. It's been a great app and I definitely recommend it. Post...
Exercise! I know it will be hard to make time for exercise with all you are juggling, but it is the best answer! I'm not sure how many kids you have, but if it's possible take them for a walk. If...
I didn't have the band however I have friends and family that have. I think the biggest (and best) difference between the two is that with the sleeve you feel full AND satisfied. The hormone changes...
Glad you're doing better. Sounds like a rough start, but you seem to be managing well. Keep it up. It gets better & better & better! I had surgery 1/28.
Agree. Sounds like they are on the right track. I meant to say get hydrated too. Problem is there can be some damage to the kidneys with the protein. Hope all is well. Honestly if someone had checked...
joyful517 do you drink the premade muscle milk or make your own with the powder? I tried the premade chocolate muscle milk when I was just post op and it was hard to choke down.
The high ketones are a response to high protein diet. I would expect this result with this type of surgery. Did the PA not give you some guidance on the results?
I am almost 6 weeks post sleeve and about to resume my exercise. I was doing a really intense 1 hour boot camp type exercise before surgery. I would burn 400 calories most times. I am eating so...
I am definitely not getting enough fluids. I used to drink a diet coke in the morning and tons of water the rest of the day. I was in the bathroom every hour. Now I will realize at 4pm I've been at...
Ditto on the gas-x strips. I just have a strange bubbly feeling in my belly sometimes and these seem to squash it pretty quick. I wish I had used them a bit sooner post op. Congrats on your sleeve!
I took pain meds for about 6 days and on the 7th day I was suddenly better and did fine without. I think it's reasonable to still need pain meds at 5 days out. When in doubt always ask your doctor....
Just go for fluids for hydration & don't worry as much about protein intake until you are feeling better. My doc said focus on staying hydrated for the first 2 weeks. Not sure what you can tolerate...
I would talk with your surgeon and possibly the psychologist or whoever did your psych eval to make sure you have all your questions answered and you are prepared for the changes. If you are just now...
Oh and congrats on the surgery!! :)
I'm lucky I can wear scrub pants so the waist is adjustable. Anything that was moderately binding was uncomfortable. I did wear jeans one day and it was a little premature because it was too binding....
I agree with the first 2 posts. I also think the preop diet helped me to prepare my mind for what I was going to need to do in the post op phase. I did 2 protein shakes a day w a meal the first week...
Oh yeah I'm taking protonix for this first month post op.
Wow! I was self pay & mine was $14,000... You might ask about the self pay rate if your insurance won't cover more than half. They jack the rates up & bill insurance then the insurance will only pay...
I would definitely call the doctor & find out if what you're experiencing is expected. The collarbone pain is likely gas pain from the laparoscopic procedure but also could be from being too full. It...
Congrats on your decision to take control of your life! I have struggled with my weight for at least 20 years which is my whole adult life. In considering this surgery a few people said "Oh you don't...
Keep walking & using your pain meds. I promise that pain will eventually resolve!! Congrats :)
Great advice from all. I loved Maximus's post. I am not quite 3 weeks out & I'm doing well now, but during my 1st week of recovery I definitely grieved. I wanted my stomach back! I thought to myself,...
