    Re: Share your sizes!

At my highest weight I was in a 4-5x with a 52-54" waist.

Now my 34" jeans are getting a wee bit loose and I'm wearing small shirts. It's really hard to predict where you'll end up. I wasn't...

    Re: Short Fuse

I know exactly what you mean. I had the worst mood swings and bouts of utter and complete rage. The littlest thing, like dying whilst playing in a computer game would send me into a downward spiral...

    Reached my Goal!

Yesterday I hit my goal weight of 170 lbs, down from a known high of 351 in September 2010. 180 lbs. gone in just over three years, 118 since this March. I'm wearing small shirts and 34" waist jeans,...

    Re: Happy Dance!!

    Thank you all!

I look and feel completely different, Marvinator. It really is amazing. I've gone from a 52-54" waist to a 34" waist and wear small shirts and jackets now vs. 4-5X. I'm going down a...

    Happy Dance!!

So.....when I began the two week diet on 3-7-13 I was 288. The day of surgery I was 272. Today I am 172. Down 100 lbs. since March. I can't believe what has happened this year. At my heaviest I was...

    Re: Post sleeve problem

We can get Dumping Syndrome but it tends to be very mild, nothing at all like the "OMGOMG I'm going to die" feeling bypass and band patients can have. I did experience a bout a few weeks after my...

    Re: Sad and ashamed

Try the five day test and see how the weight loss from that makes you feel. You will lose doing that and I think it may renew your enthusiasm for this journey. :)

No need to feel ashamed, just...

    Personal Milestone

I started the pre-op diet March 7th weighing 288 lbs. Last Tuesday I weighed myself and I was 188. 100 lbs. gone in seven months. I'm beyond thrilled at my progress. I walked into the surgeon's...

    Re: hello,

Part of the reason for the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver and minimize the risk of the surgeon clipping it with a tool. I suggest you tell your surgeon. This is too important to let slide.

Re: Menstrual Cycle after Gastric Sleeve

I would recommend talking to your OB/Gyn about an IUD but not the Mirena. A lot of women experience fluctuations in their hormones post-sleeve so a hormone-releasing IUD might not be the best choice....

Re: Menstrual Cycle after Gastric Sleeve

Hi Lenni, I'm an OB nurse and sleeve pt. and from what I've heard, a lot of VSG patients gained weight on depo. It's one of the more common side effects and cab be pretty extreme. It also carries a...

    Re: Will I be miserable?

You need to supplement your daily diet with a lot of protein. I drink two protein shakes a day and have a protein bar at night in addition to eating a lot of lean meats and veggies. Protein is the...

Re: When is too soon to....

Gauge your comfort level. If it still hurts it's too early. I'm a side and stomach sleeper and it took a good week or more before I was comfortable enough to sleep a little bit on my side. My back...
  18. Re: Pre op diet and a handful (large one) of M&Ms

I still eat M&Ms but sparingly, maybe a handful every two to three weeks. We don't have to give up the things we enjoy, we just have to enjoy them responsibly and in moderation. I beat myself up...

I don't see any reason why you can't hang around. We're all sociable folks here and bariatric support is a good thing!
  20. Re: Ate 2 teaspoons of peanut butter- it feels stuck in my throat

It will go away but I recommend you avoid it for a few more weeks. Depending on the brand you may find it too rich and have a mini-dumping syndrome episode, as I did with Peter Pan. Consistency-wise...

    Re: Will I be miserable?

I, like you, love to cook and eat but I found, post-surgery, that it's not as hard as I thought it might be. I still eat what I want (for the most part) but in smaller amounts. I find once my tummy...
  23. Onederland and the Century (and a Half Club)

So this week I went to One-derland, 199.6!! I don't think I've weighed this little since high school.

This means I have lost: 89 lbs. since March 7th (start of the two week pre-op diet)

    Re: Bilirubin

I'd definitely say make an appt. with your PCP right away. If you start to have nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, and jaundice then get to the ER.
