Re: Longest stall, feel like crying

Bless your heart - its' hard when you feel like you should be losing.

Bodies like equilibrium and take their own time. Keep doing what you know is right. It will work.

    And make sure you're...

Re: Feeling gross/light nausea after eating

Agree - talk to your surgeon or your primary care physician.

And substituting high-calorie sugar drinks for nutrition is only a temporary solution.

    Re: Got Shame?

I agree with the above. My only regret is I didn't do it till I was 64! Almost 3 years and best decision ever.

We were self pay, and it was a difficult decision to spend that much money on...
  8. Re: Mini Gastric Bypass and medication that goes to waste

No gastric reflux but MDD/GAD & daily med. I had a sleeve and did not have to make any changes in med until weight loss hit a point where I needed a lower dose.

I do NOT have gastric reflux but...

Re: New surgery candidate w weight question

Welcome! Good advice so far. I was self pay at about your BMI, so didn't have to do the other things.
  10. Re: Pre-surgery: keen to hear experiences from previously heaver drinkers

Alcohol is primarily sugar, so its' not a good decision if you're losing weight. Also, the VGS means that 1/4 of what you were drinking in terms of alcohol, will hit you about like 2 normal size...

    Re: no soda or straw?

Caffeine is a dieuretic and getting and keeping your water is important. So never too much....as with all things, lol.

Re: Low carb - 3 years out

We all find what works best for us! And maintenance is a balancing act all the time, at least for me.
I am baking a lot (and sewing) with the stay at home. And bless his heart, my husband eats...

Re: Once again - weird weight observation

Sharon, yes he is quite thin and I suspect that's his genetics.
I'm just trying to balance info overload & common sense, I think.

I do think our genetics play a huge part - I am, regardless of...

Once again - weird weight observation

The term "ideal" weight still eludes me, at 2 1/2 year out.

I can look at photo's where post sleeve I hit 123 -- I don't look good. My kids said I looked "frail"; they hovered & fussed. I also...

    Re: no soda or straw?

I prefer a straw with soda, but I've never gone back to soda post sleeve. Just seemed like a good time to have one less artificial thing while I rebuilt my health in such a dramatic way.

    I have...

Re: Retired with nothing but time now!!

    Tony,
Welcome. It takes a bit to regroup after you retire (well it did for me).
But honestly, I still do a calendar with a loose to do list (unless someone else is impacted if I don't get to it)....

    Re: I've fallen off trak

MINDFUL eating is always hard, especially when most people's life is a but out of the norm at the moment.

I track every day; weight & food. I try very hard not to let the numbers make me crazy. ...

Re: how to eat in final phase/maintenance

I'm 5'4 and started way up, and stay between 135-140.
Like Kenson, I track. The good, the bad and the ugly. Yes, once in a while I do have something that is not "best" nutritionally. But I don't...

    Re: First Telehealth Dr Appointment

Sharon, our insurance (We are Medicare and Aetna) covers telehealth. Medicare stated early on they would cover them the same as regular visits. So being hold helps some times :)

I also got a lovely email from her afterwards. She's an awesome PC. Yes, learning to Zoom (or Duo or FaceTime) isn't as ituitive as us older folks. (I will be 68 in 29 days, God willing :) )

    But...

    First Telehealth Dr Appointment

I had my first virtual doctor visit. It was awesome.

I adore my PCP any way, but she spent 30 minutes with me; it was really like having a face-to-face visit.

SO be not afraid if you need one....

    Re: New Member

Kathy, just take your time. You'll get there with the exercise. The changes from surgery, anesthesia and weight loss need to reach equilibrium before you do everything!

    Welcome!
  25. Re: Nine Week Post Op ~ Already Having Challenges

Oh my! I'm sorry you learned the hard way. I am the cook/baker, but I seldom indulge but I had the mixed blessing of "toad froth" if I eat incorrectly or too much.

    You're back on track! Hooray.
