Re: My Pcp-family practice are idiots

OMG- had such a similar experience and my PCP and surgeon are RIGHT DOWN THE HALL from each other. You'd think it were miles away. When the surgeon said they didn't have one piece of paper, I went...

    Re: Hungry

These topics really make me worried. The whole reason I am doing the surgery is to help curb what I have so much trouble controlling- hunger and emotional eating. If I am hungry, I will eat. I...

Playing devils advocate here. What was the most difficult or challenging experience so far?
  8. Re: To anyone with BCBS- they changed their policy 2/1/12!!! No more 6 month diet!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the confusion. IF your plan covers bariatric surgery, the parameters have changed across all BCBS plans. If your plan does not cover the surgery, it does not apply.
  9. To anyone with BCBS- they changed their policy 2/1/12!!! No more 6 month diet!!!!!!!!!!

I did the diet, but am happy for those that now don't have to. Check out

Re: Ok, I'm needing some words of wisdom!

The best advice that I have been given is to change things up. Your body has a natural set point weight, for some of us it is very high. Your body will conserve energy to try and get you back to...

    Re: nasty protein shakes!

There really are some great shakes out there (and some really awful ones). I played around and landed on Isopure Zero Carb vanilla. I spice it up with a little cinammon, SF vanilla syrup or I...

Re: I've learned a painful lesson

I am a little scared about the post. I thought the sleeve prevented you from over indulging. I am about 1 month from surgery. Sadly, I don't think getting nauseous after eating will stop me. I...
  15. Re: Vascillating between full bypass and sleeve- cannot decide!

I went through the bulk of my pre-tests...Endoscopy, ultrasound and all the bloodwork. I do have fatty liver, so even more motivated to lose the weight. My endocrinologist, whom I like and trust,...
  16. Re: Absolute Best, Hands Down, Protein Powder You've Tried

Isopure Zero Carb Creamy Vanilla. It is so so good. Also recommend Amazon...with the free ship, it's a good price and uber convenient.

Oh I am so sorry for both situations you are in. I agree with what everyone has said here. The intervention came from a place of love and concern, and I hope that you understand that. My family...

    Re: Lotions

Yes, it definitely does work over time. But if you're allergic...I guess cocoa butter and vitamin E. I just don;t want to see people wasting too much time and money on products that just wont help....
  19. Re: Anyone on the super-obese side here, who's done the surgery?

You will get there. We all have the same problem and are here to support each other openly and lovingly. It took me 6 years to get on a scale and admit and post my weight. But kudos to you for...
  20. Re: Anyone on the super-obese side here, who's done the surgery?

Was your surgery part of a 2-step procedure or are you sleeving and one? I ask because I have read a lot where this procedure precedes a switch or something else. I am too scared to do the RNY,...

For the scars Mederma is pretty good. Someone discovered that a compound in onions helped reduce the appearance of scars...Voila! onion-extract cream. I used to work in dermatology and just saw...
  22. Sticky: Re: Protein Smoothies -Alumni post suggestions here - Newbies get info here

I read so many good things about the Nectar Cappuccino. I made it this morning with hot coffee in my wisk-ball mixer at work. It was disgusting. Chunks of weird plasticy stuff. Just awful. Did I...

    Re: Lotions

I am a bit of a pessimist when it comes to lotions. Lotions can only go a few layers deep into your skin and can't really help with tightness. A lot or products actually plump the areas to make...

Re: One month out, enjoying eating!

That is so encouraging. A while ago, I took Meridia and while it is off the market now- I really thought it helped me in that way. I completely forgot about food as I was never hungry. The "what...
